Router stops working & no access to R3?

Recommended Posts

I have been losing connection to the router login (192.168.77.1) every day or two at random times for 3 weeks, i would usually notice this because my ping is low in game which means steady ping is not working due to my ping not being 5 or 10 higher. I read on the forums that it might be SmartBoost causing it so i disabled that, day later router crashes again. After reading about other peoples similar issues in the forums I finally got the router to work without it crashing while the smartboost is active, i found that these 3 are causing crashes. DMZ on a device, leaving steady ping on too long and logging in dumaos using r3 wifi. I deleted my dmz device, use steady ping only when gaming then turning it off after im done, i turned off R3 wifi and used another router on AP mode as wifi to access dumaOS with my phone, no crashes since i changed these settings. If your router stops working and you cannot login router can you please post what default settings you have changed.

This is the longest i had the router not crash on me, next week if all is well i am going to test things out by leaving steady ping on to see if it crashes, then dmz, after that wifi. I want to test out if steady ping is possibly causing high cpu on certain isp's and crashing, upnp opening the same ports as device in dmz may also cause crashes. I have a feeling that logging in DumaOS using the R3 wifi is the main issue but before i turn that on again i am going to see if the router stays on this week. Router works great in COD and once this annoying bug is fixed next firmware the R3 will be perfect.

This seems to be exactly what is happening to me. I disabled smartboost but still experience the crashes. It usually happens when I am done gaming and go back to gaming and use the MacBook Air to see the geo filter and ping.

how can i use my other router to log into the r3 if my WiFi is disabled? AP mode?  Thx.

What i did is use another router in AP mode for wifi for now until bug is fixed. This kept the R3 from crashing for me it has been 5 days now, before it would crash everyday randomly. Im curious is there a setting you changed from default that may affect router? Maybe try a different electrical outlet when powering router.

It has done this from day one. I didn’t change anything even after factory reset

I will try a different outlet tho

if I disable WiFi can I still log into the r3?

i use my isp router for the rest of my house just r3 for gaming

I believe everything that uses internet has to be connected to the R3 for the anti bufferbloat to work, also if your isp is a modem/router you have to put it in bridge mode or put R3 in your modem/routers DMZ. You do not want double nat on R3, games will lag and ports will not open. Yes you can use ethernet to access router no need to use R3 wifi if its crashing or attach ethernet from R3 to another router in AP mode and use that routers wifi.
