Zordrak
Hi, I currently have the XR1000 and thinking about making jump. Can people confirm the Hybrid VPN is currently live, also what is peoples thoughts on Wifi compared to XR1000?
DanologyUK
Have a read of the forums to make your own decision. People have experienced WIFI issues including coverage. Also the router does not have the VPN function yet but been told that it's coming. Personally if i could turn back time to when i pressed the buy button for this router, I wouldnt buy it. Maybe in 6 months once we have all beta tested the broken functions into a working state.
PharmDawgg
Hybrid VPN is currently not available but it is in the works and nay be released in the next firnware update I would rank the wifi like this R3>R2>R1. I would not compare the Netgear/Duna routers to the Duma only. Of course the wifi for the Netgear/Duma routers are going to be better. Netgear have been in the business a lot longer and have perfected the process. One advantage that the R3 has over the Netgear/Duma routers is the Netgear/Duma routers are not getting DumaOS4
Newfie
Netgears routers are better hardware wise and will use official drivers from the chipset manufacturers so you will for example have many of the subsets under the WiFi 6 standards as well as better coverage. Of course you require WiFi 6 clients to take full advantage of those standards under WiFi 6. you could use the XR1000 as an AP and not use the R3 WiFi to overcome the R3s WiFi . Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 8 Administrators Share Posted February 8 HybridVPN isn't live yet but as mentioned may come in the next update. As above I don't think comparing the WiFi between the two will tell you anything, the 1000 is twice the price of the R3 so you would expect it to be better. Zordrak
Thanks everyone. yeah was assuming WiFi would be around same speed/range etc just with the R3 being new but understand Netgear have more years in the game etc. Netduma Fraser and Newfie
