mindlash Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Hello. I just discovered that no casting (Spotify, YouTube) or Apple iOS mirroring works now that i have the R3 in place. I tried two different TV’s and multiple casting devices. I did the following per another similar thread to no avail: Turn off protection Thoughts?
PharmDawgg Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 I was able to connect my iPhone to the Apple TV but I had to change the allow access under airplay/homekit>allow access on the appletv to everyone and not anyone on the same network. This may be a work around. Which doesn’t make sense. Maybe Netduma can take a look at this. I have never had to change this before. Hope this helps. sorry what I meant by doesn’t make sense was the phone and AppleTV were on the same network so it should have worked.
mindlash Posted January 1, 2024 Author Posted January 1, 2024 Well. I’m not sure that applies to me? I don’t have an Apple TV… just smart devices that have previously allowed me to cast to them. PharmDawgg 1

Is that for some of the services on DumaOS? No, it’s pretty standard on many routers and is the old standard where RSTP is a more upto date version with level 3 layers the new version RSTP helps with OSPF and EIGRP for faster path selection. STP is 802.1D RSTP is 802.1W
Proud R3 Owner Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Yeah I remember STP being utilized for layer 2 loopback and redundancy but I thought we were way past that.

For home users with just the router, no switches or mesh points it’s not required. Yes it’s an old protocol but still in use but not as applicable as it was. PharmDawgg 1

Are both devices on the same WiFi 2.4/2.4GHz, 5/5GHz or on different 2.4/5GHz etc

I’m using the default merged SID of both GHz. I just looked and tested again, and the TV and the iPhone are both on 5GHz
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 1, 2024 Administrators Posted January 1, 2024 Split the band, connect one device to 2.4 one to 5GHz, does it work then?

Krush Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 @Proud R3 Owner Personally, I disabled STP on the R3 because I use a switch to manage my network transfers locally between my devices behind the R3. PC/PC ; XBOX/XBOX ; PC/NAS. With STP local transfers, in part, tended to go through the R3's WAN/LAN limited to 1Gbps on all of its ports.
lbevin Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 @Netduma Fraser I have this issue also regarding casting however when the chromecast is connected to the 5G network, i have to connect to the 2.4GHz network to share to it and the other way around?? If the tv is connected to 2.4ghz the remote app only works when I'm on 5GHz?? Completely baffling me.

This is something that has been detected, it will be fixed on the next FW without a doubt. lbevin 1

Trox Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Hi. Is there a timeline for the issue? I have the same with google casting devices not being accessible on the same WiFi band, my phone always need to be on the other for it to work. Worse still i cannot get my two TE OD-11 speakers to work i tandem with this Router. Only one at a time will be accessible via the app, i don't know if this is a similar issue. Right now my smart devices are pretty handicapped with this router

If it's not this update I suspect it'll be the next.
carmine19 Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 hi @Netduma Fraser I have the same problem with firmware 0.41, I also did a reset on both the r3 and the chromecast but the only way to make it work is to divide the bands, do you know is it still present in this firmware?
