R3 does not connect via PPOE and does not exit the DumaOS 4 loading loop

I can't create a PPoE connection... in Brazil, almost all connections are via PPoE... I try to save the connection login, but it says the username is invalid... my login (provided by the ISP) is vivianne.conti (my wife's name, yes, with a dot in the middle)... because of this dot, it doesn't save the user, it says it's invalid... if I remove the dot, it saves, but it won't connect, so obvious, because the name has the dot in the middle and the ISP server will think the name is wrong...anyway, I tried to save without the dot and I skipped everything... however, it gets to the dumaOS 4 loading screen and it doesn't leave the loop, it stays there forever. .. I tried on the PC (192.168.77.1) and I tried on the cell phone (obviously connected to the R3's wifi)...

It's a joke, I never had a problem creating a pppoe connection with that username, on XR1000, r2, Asus AX6000 (which I'm using now)... Didn't you review the basic PPoE code before launching? The thing does not connect to the internet because of a point and does not exit the loop... How am I going to update the router if I can't even access its GUI? I've tried everything, I've read most of the topics here... I want to see how I can update this router without access to the GUI... Am I going to have to piss off my internet provider to change my ppoe username because of a damn dot?

Sounds like you might have firmware version 4.0.16 on your router.

You have the same two issues I had.

Important if you  need a “VLANID” as part of your PPPoE connection then you will need Netdumas newer firmware 4.0.21 for your R3 but that’s being tested. Maybe Netduma can provide it.

However, if like me, you have a PPPoE connection but DO NOT need a VLANID then you can proceed by using firmware 4.0.19 or above will work.

You will need the following:

*Old ISP router

*New firmware file 4.0.19 or newer from

Netduma support.

*Netduma support to log into the router(yes I know you will be thinking how will Netduma do that without internet !?), but please read on.

To get around this I did the following:

Connected my old ISP router back up to my modem/ONT box.

Connect a network cable from the back of the ISP router to the WAN port on the R3.

Here’s the important part. Connect a lead from your PC or whatever to the R3 LAN port.  Go to the Duma setup wizard (on the R3 - 192.168.77.1) and leave the router in DHCP mode not PPPoE cause the internet connection will be handled by your old ISP router. Go through to the end where it keeps saying Duma OS4 loading as that’s as far as you can go.

After a bit of time you will notice on your PC that you have internet! But you still cannot access the R3 DumaOS.

At this point you will need assistance from Netduma support to get past the boot loop they can remote in. Once you are into the R3’s GUI you will need the new firmware file to flash the R3 and fingers crossed you will be able to factory reset the router and just have your modem/ONT and router working without your old ISP router.

The other way is if Netduma give you the command to skip the boot loop and Netduma DM you the newer firmware. which you download via your old router and just flash the R3 with. Depends on what Netduma say is the best way to proceed.

and why doesn't Netduma help me?

@Netduma Fraser

I use the ISP's modem which is bridged and a router that was supposed to be the r3, now I'm using an Asus gt-ax6000 which does ppoe and dhcp for the whole house...

I don't have access to the ISP modem that is bridged, because it is blocked by the ISP... ppoe always has to be done through the router...

There are tons of posts at the moment, I'm doing my best to respond to people as soon as I can.

I have sent you instructions in a PM that will allow you to get out of the setup wizard, then you'll be able to enter your PPPoE details in settings to connect
