R2 with BT FTTP?

My broadband will be upgraded to BT FTTP within the next 2 weeks. I presume this will still be fully compatible with the R2, but will I need to make any configuration or settings changes on the R2? Also are there any known issues with  the R2 and BT FTTP?

hi

testing this with 1gb down and 115 up bt connection, ive disabled qos and cant seem to get above 500mb dl?

any ideas why? ive reset the device a couple of times to test but cant get my normal throughput?

currently using 3.3.280 till i get used to the firmware.

im also seeing very poor wifi performance as well, ive seperated the 2 and 5 ghz channels but still very poor like 17 mb dl and 27 up

Have a quick run through of this guide: https://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000076586-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-maximum-bandwidth-speeds disabling the protection options in WAN Settings may boost the speeds slightly as well. All devices should be connected to the R2 as well.

For WiFi:

  1. Disable Mirror Mode, give 2.4/5GHz different names and apply - you'll want to connect to 5GHz specifically for speeds
  2. Use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channel and change to that
  3. Experiment with the widths to see what gives better results
  4. Ensure it's in an elevated position - not on a metal surface
  5. Ensure there aren't any electrical / wireless devices e.g headphones etc within close proximity ~3 feet if possible
  6. Set the antennae to this position _ | | _

hello,

I had disabled qos and when going to that page it states its disabled.

turned off ipv 6

turned off scan and flood protection and allow ping.

all devices are indeed connected to the R2

i`ve re installed the firmware and reset the device several times.

I noticed that it doesnt detect my pppoe connection even after inputting the correct username and password.

it says not detected but if i skip this section and carry on through all the settings i indeed have internet access.

not tried any more with wifi yet as need to get the basic speed working first.

any ideas as i get correct speeds both with the BT homehub and a TCP link router.

this was one of the better results but still low - https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat?test-id=975ca342-ea53-4eab-9e74-7ef13ca79b69

connected to my existing router and speeds are sometimes better and sometimes not. Ive seen as high as 800 but in the same test as low as 300. yet another test shows a high of 700 and lows of 600.

I cant hit my max line throughput and ive disable qos and all the settings for port scan and ipv 6 etc.

So that's through the R2 that's connected to the existing router handling PPPoE? Put the R2 in its DMZ as well and that will help

so i dont wanna have to use multiple devices to get this working, if pppoe is an issue which it certainly makes it worse, i will return the device for a refund.

can you please arrange a collection and let me know.

regards

That's my best guess but I can't be certain until we take PPPoE out of the equation to test if you can get the higher speeds.

You'll have to email [email protected] with your order number if you want to return it and we can go from there.

I have been in contact with yourself via emails today and to say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

the device came in an unsealed box

the WIFI keeps dropping out on the 2gh channel

the 5ghz channel isn't coming up at all

I've tried both the current stable branch firmware and the beta firmware and factory resetting every time

The device will not reach 915mbps dl at any point - given the 1gb ports i would have expected it to reach these speeds.

you yourself have said it could be because of the pppoe side of the device - which means its not fit for purpose.

I've tried using both my own TP link router and the BT router to negate the pppoe issue, this gave slightly increased speeds up to on average 600 but mostly 450 ish

everything is connected directly to the R2 netduma device, I've even made sure the WIFI has been off when doing speed tests and even on, there is no difference at all in speed.

I've literally done everything you've asked for and nothing has solved the issue so I asked for a return and refund as the device isn't capable/fit for purpose.

you have stated I must pay for the return and your going to deduct the original shipping costs off the refund!

I'm disgusted to say the least, and you should be picking the faulty device up at your cost not mine and not deducting anything off the purchase price as the device is faulty/not sealed box/fit for purpose (pppoe problems), wifi not coming up.

I look forward to your responses both on here and via email.

I certainly will not be recommending your devices or services to anyone i know.

other thread is here

No nothing you need to do specifically just as you would normally use, all devices connected to R2 for example

Hi Fraser. BT finally managed to upgrade me to FTTP and everything is connected as before, however I’m also seeing approx 50% drop in speeds via the R2.

BT Homehub: 148 down / 29 up

R2: 76 down / 29 up

I don’t have any settings active in QoS, so what could be causing this drop in speed via R2?

Edit: disabled mirror wifi, renamed 2.4/5.0 and restarted R2 seems to have resolved the drop in speed issue.
