yhsuP
Hello! I need some help selecting my upload and download speeds on my Netduma. I pay for 100 down and 10 up, but when I do speed tests on my computer anywhere from 110-120 down and 10-13 up. What should I set for each in my case? Also, when I run a speed test on my Xbox One by going to settings > network > detailed network statistics, I get a download value anywhere from 30 down to about 120 down. Why is this so inconsistent, and what can I do to make sure I am always receiving the fasted download speeds possible? Please help!
PharmDawgg
Firstly, do not pay attention to the Xbox's stats -- you are more concerned about pinging/stats to a host player or dedicated server not Microsoft's servers in Seattle. Secondly, I would input your real world statistics. Maybe run a few speed tests and use the average. I think that would be best. I would not put what you pay for. Hope this helps. yhsuP
Thank you very much. I was told that the latency on an Xbox speed test is very off, but the download and upload speeds are accurate. If so, why am I only getting 30 mbps download speeds at times? I followed all of the settings carefully for connections less than 120 mbps on the Netduma support page, so I don't know what else could be causing such a drastic difference in the speed of my Xbox. lukasz
Assuming ofcourse that both test are done on wired connection on 100 set sliders.
yhsuP
Okay I just did 10 speed tests and took an average and finally got this sorted out. From now on I will disregard the xbox speed tests as well. Thank you everyone for your help and input!
yhsuP
One last thing, I know that 70% is recommended while gaming, but since my connection is very good, couldn't I just leave it at 100% to make sure my xbox is getting the most speed possible? PharmDawgg
I would only leave it at 100% if the only device on your network is the Xbox. Sometimes if you have multiple devices on your network they may request more bandwidth than is available and this will cause network congestion lag so by using the congestion control sliders you are basically leaving a little bandwidth in reserve so that never happens. I have the same internet package as you and run both of mine on 100% without any problems. Try it both ways and see what works best for you though. lukasz
It all depends on congestion at you place. Think about it this way on 4 lane road trafic moves nicely but by setting 70 is like giving your gaming one lane on that road for ever. I mean that lane its only for your gaming. And if you think about seting it 100 and giving your xbox more % in device prioritization i have to inform you that this fature apples only to upload speed. Device prioritization apples only to upload speeds.
