Hi All,

In December 2020 I retired my R2 for fear of my family burying me in the back garden due to poor WIFI .  XR500 has performed well since that fateful day ,  but I do miss the R2 with the additional functions etc .   Has there been any changes to the WIFI performance over the last +12 months ?   any feedback would be welcome and I could potentially dust the R2  off again .

We've done our best to improve the Wi-Fi through firmware updates but it still won't quite be up to the standard of the XR500.

What I'd suggest doing is to put the R2 back at the top of the network, then run the XR500 as an access point. That way you'll have the features of the R2 with the Wi-Fi coverage of the XR500.

Let me know you thoughts on that!

Okay will try this thanks , one last question re the auto set up in QOS on the R2 I am hard wired to the Xbox but  use the OS on my wireless laptop . Does it matter which device I run the auto set up on ?

No it doesn't matter which you do it on as it's a router based test and not dependent on the device

HI Fraser ,

Rather than start a new topic I will keep my current issue on this one if that is okay .   So last Saturday I replaced the XR500 with the R2 uploaded the new 394 firmware and did 2 factory resets to be safe .  The good news is from a performance persepctive the wireless has now been flawless and I have no complaints from the family with around 25 devices attached wired and wireless .   From a gaming perspective the Auto Test and connection benchmark has made a lot of differnce and gaming experience has improved for sure .

The BAD news is the RAPP issue ,  this is so frustrating and basically we lose access to the OS every morning . The router works we have connection etc but can not access the OS unless we turn the router off and effectively re boot .  This has happened every day at least once -  Do we have a soliution for this without a factory reset ( router is tuned to perfection ) and don't want to have to do all that again unless I have to .  Some more info to assist , The RAPPS section shows 5 as the number of attempts and I have all devices with their own static IP and the DHCP set to 168 hrs .   If we can fix the loading RAPP issue I will be a very happy camper , the OS should just sit there and be available whenever we need it and not need to be booted once or twice a day .

Thanks

What's the Rapp issue exactly? Are you seeing 'This Rapp has not loaded yet...'? That should be fixed in 3.0.394 so I'm surprised if that's the issue you're experiencing.

What browser are you accessing the R2 interface from?

yes not loaded yet then just a blank red screen until we turn the router off ,  using safari on a MacBook

That's very odd,  could you please try clearing cache in Safari, then see if the issue persists? Alternatively, try a new browser you haven't accessed the DumaOS interface from before.

Okay cleared cache and deleted history and also used Edge and Chrome browsers with no success .

Saturday Morning I relectantly did the factory re set Twice -   Even though when I upgraded to 394 1 week earlier I had already factory re set twice !! but the problem occurred

Anyway I have now not had a single Rapp issue in 24 hrs so it appears to have worked .  From experience and reading through the forums it is strange how the factory re sets are so hit and miss .  I know some time ago when I upgraded to 205 I did the re set and could still see some old settings remain . Seems like you have to do it multiple times to truly kill off the older version

Anyway alls well that ends well

Thanks Guys

Okay so now I run the risk of sounding like a pest but I think I have another issue :( ....

So my RAPPS problem went away but Sunday morning the internet dropped and I needed to switch off the router which resolved the issue . I did not think anything of it .

Now this morning the same thing happened ,  switched it off at the plug ( interface was not showing on lap top ) and it then came back again . Seems the router does not want to stay alive for more than 24 hrs ... any suggestions ?

Thanks

Okay did that Monday night and the router has been rock solid ever since (touch wood , my head) this continues . In addition and just some feedback I have tweaked and tuned my wifi manually to keep everybody in my 2 storey house happy and have to say it has performed very well and have noticed no different to XR500 which is great news .  From a gaming perspective its great the the auto set up works well on the R2 and I check this before every session and each time I get a different number ( not a lot of variance ). I guess that is to be expected but most importantly the gaming experience is extremely good .   All in all a very solid little R2 now which has impressed me over the last few days .  Happy Friday team :)
