mistaguy1 Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Got the NetDuma R2 last week. It works fine for maybe like 8 - 12 hours and then the wifi just stops working. It's happened 3 times now. Turning it off and on brings it back up so it's not a huge issue, but a lot of us WFH right now cause of covid so it can be annoying if we're in meetings. Any suggestions? Thanks! Modem is Arris Surfboard SB6190, ISP is WaveBroadband - Gigabit, Located in SF Bay Area.
Netduma Liam Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear this, is it just the Wi-Fi that's disconnecting? Are you still able to access the interface when the connection drops?
mistaguy1 Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Yes, Just wifi. The modem is fine because the lights on the modem indicate theres wifi. No I cannot access the interface. Also, it’s happening more frequently now, pretty annoying. I’ve tried doing hard reset twice.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 30, 2021 Administrators Posted March 30, 2021 Hey, welcome to the forum! Have you changed any WiFi settings other than the SSID and Password?
mistaguy1 Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 yeah I just split out the wifi into a 2G and 5G, that’s it.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 30, 2021 Administrators Posted March 30, 2021 Okay do this please and see if it is more stable afterwards: Disable WiFi completely, save, reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes then, enable WiFi, save, reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes before connecting.
mistaguy1 Posted March 31, 2021 Author Posted March 31, 2021 Hi, Just got the same issue after following those steps. My 2G and 5G networks just say no internet connection. Same when I’m directly plugged into the router. Rebooting it fixes it.

I'm having the same issue Wifi daily . I'm constantly having to restart my NetdumaR2 in order to get my Wifi back up. same was happening to my Netduma R1 so I got the R2. I just replaced my modern to Arris Surfboard SB6190. I had my ISP replace all of my lines. so only thing left in the NetdumaR2 Oh btw the interface is so laggy and sometimes doesn't load. Thank You

Any IoT or smart home devices? 5 hours ago, ttu_red said: I'm having the same issue Wifi daily . Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 31, 2021 Administrators Posted March 31, 2021 Do you have a dynamic or static public IP? Do you know how long your ISP lease time is?
mistaguy1 Posted March 31, 2021 Author Posted March 31, 2021 Hi Fraser, No there’s no IoT or smart devices. It’s just laptops, celphones ipads
ttu_red Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 . everything is on default for me 12 hour lease time
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 31, 2021 Administrators Posted March 31, 2021 27 minutes ago, ttu_red said: . everything is on default for me 12 hour lease time I meant your public IP, how long does it take for that to renew and does it change or does it stay the same? Setting DHCP lease hours on the R2 to 168 could help though so please try that the both of you.
mistaguy1 Posted March 31, 2021 Author Posted March 31, 2021 can I get a replacement or do you think that won’t help?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 31, 2021 Administrators Posted March 31, 2021 It is an issue we're aware of so a replacement wouldn't be a guarantee that the issue wouldn't occur though not everyone has it. Lets see how you get on and we can authorize a replacement if needed.
mistaguy1 Posted March 31, 2021 Author Posted March 31, 2021 Do you have a dynamic or static public IP? Do you know how long your ISP lease time is? I'm not sure how to check this, probably a static public IP. I haven't done any configuration. I also don't know what my ISP lease time is.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 31, 2021 Administrators Posted March 31, 2021 I can see your IP has changed with this latest post, based on your first post your lease seems to be about 48 hours. So as you said the issue occurs every 12 hours or so unlikely to be the main cause but to double check do you have another router you could put in between the modem and R2 to see if you go longer without the issue?

Netduma Liam Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Have you tried Fraser's latest suggestion yet? 18 hours ago, Netduma Fraser said: I meant your public IP, how long does it take for that to renew and does it change or does it stay the same? mistaguy1 Posted April 4, 2021 Author Posted April 4, 2021 After setting DHCP lease hours to 168, it definitely does look like it helped. I'm still disconnecting but after about a day and a half. Unfortunately this is still occurring so I think I'll be returning the router. I appreciate all the help from you guys!

Sorry to hear that, did putting a router between the modem and R2 not help at all?
mistaguy1 Posted April 6, 2021 Author Posted April 6, 2021 No it did not help. What are next steps for returns?
