Wifi randomly just stops working.

Got the NetDuma R2 last week. It works fine for maybe like 8 - 12 hours and then the wifi just stops working. It's happened 3 times now. Turning it off and on brings it back up so it's not a huge issue, but a lot of us WFH right now cause of covid so it can be annoying if we're in  meetings. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Modem is Arris Surfboard SB6190,

ISP is WaveBroadband - Gigabit,

Located in SF Bay Area.

Yes, Just wifi. The modem is fine because the lights on the modem indicate theres wifi. No I cannot access the interface. Also, it’s happening more frequently now, pretty annoying. I’ve tried doing hard reset twice.

Okay do this please and see if it is more stable afterwards:

Disable WiFi completely, save, reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes then, enable WiFi, save, reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes before connecting.

I'm having the same issue  Wifi  daily . I'm constantly having to restart my NetdumaR2 in order to get my Wifi back up.  same was happening to my Netduma R1 so I got the R2.

I just replaced my modern to  Arris Surfboard SB6190. I had my ISP replace all of my lines. so only thing left in the NetdumaR2

Oh btw the interface  is so laggy and sometimes doesn't load.

Thank You

Hi,

Just got the same issue after following those steps. My 2G and 5G networks just say no internet connection. Same when I’m directly plugged into the router. Rebooting it fixes it.

What devices do you you have connected over Wi-Fi? Any IoT or smart home devices?

Is it just your Wi-Fi that's dropping, wired connections are OK? Are you still able to access the interface when the drops occur?

at first it was just the Wi-Fi , sometimes the whole router locks up and I have to pull the power cord to reset.

Thanks

. everything is on default for me  12 hour lease time

I meant your public IP, how long does it take for that to renew and does it change or does it stay the same?

Setting DHCP lease hours on the R2 to 168 could help though so please try that the both of you.

It is an issue we're aware of so a replacement wouldn't be a guarantee that the issue wouldn't occur though not everyone has it. Lets see how you get on and we can authorize a replacement if needed.

Do you have a dynamic or static public IP? Do you know how long your ISP lease time is?

I'm not sure how to check this, probably a static public IP. I haven't done any configuration. I also don't know what my ISP lease time is.

I can see your IP has changed with this latest post, based on your first post your lease seems to be about 48 hours. So as you said the issue occurs every 12 hours or so unlikely to be the main cause but to double check do you have another router you could put in between the modem and R2 to see if you go longer without the issue?

that would be great to get a replacement, I use another router as well.

Thanks

Have you tried Fraser's latest suggestion yet?

After setting DHCP lease hours to 168, it definitely does look like it helped. I'm still disconnecting but after about a day and a half. Unfortunately this is still occurring so I think I'll be returning the router. I appreciate all the help from you guys!

Sorry to hear that, did putting a router between the modem and R2 not help at all?
