arky_4 Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 Hi I'm getting this error a lot for some reason uncaught security error: failed to construct websocket: an insecure websocket connection may not be initiated from a page loaded over HTTPS. This happens in Ping Heatmap, connection benchmark maybe others but haven't tried. Everything is very slow to respond. Im currently on V2.3.2.104-DumaOS3.0-Beta Will an update to the latest firmware fix this? will I lose my settings? Cheers
Netduma Liam Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 I'd recommend ensuring you're up-to-date on firmware and perform a factory reset after the upgrade, this will however mean you'll need to setup the router again.
arky_4 Posted March 25, 2021 Author Posted March 25, 2021 Can you confirm what the latest firmware should be for RX500? On the main page it says v2.3.2.66 My friend has downloaded the following from Netgear v2.3.2.114-DumaOS3.0.203
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 25, 2021 Administrators Posted March 25, 2021 The latest beta version can be found here (.120) https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Pro-Gaming-DumaOS-3-0/New-Firmware-v2-3-2-120-XR500/m-p/2076040 The latest non-beta version is .114 (not the beta version
arky_4 Posted March 25, 2021 Author Posted March 25, 2021 Thanks Fraser presume I do factory reset then install that version?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 25, 2021 Administrators Posted March 25, 2021 Install it and then do a factory reset
arky_4 Posted March 27, 2021 Author Posted March 27, 2021 Hi Fraser, I have done that now. Couple of things... Connection Benchmark - click run but nothing happens. The loading symbol happens but it doesnt start the test. Ping heatmap - when selecting anything you hit ping but nothing happens. Any suggestions?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 27, 2021 Administrators Posted March 27, 2021 Are you using an Adblocker on the web browser at all? What is the model of the modem/router the R2 is connected to?
arky_4 Posted March 27, 2021 Author Posted March 27, 2021 No adblocker. It’s a RX500 it connects straight to antenna (black box)
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 27, 2021 Administrators Posted March 27, 2021 Are you using IPv6, VLAN, PPPoE or anything like that? In DNS settings change it to 8.8.8.8 and see if it works then please
arky_4 Posted March 27, 2021 Author Posted March 27, 2021 No IPv6 or VLAN but PPPoE. I already have DNS as 8.8.8.8
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 27, 2021 Administrators Posted March 27, 2021 It could be PPPoE, do you have access to another router you could put before the XR to handle PPPoE and see if it works that way? If so then we can reproduce and resolve that
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 27, 2021 Administrators Posted March 27, 2021 Could you reupgrade to the same firmware please - no need to reset and then see if it works?
arky_4 Posted April 3, 2021 Author Posted April 3, 2021 HI @Netduma Fraser, I've reinstalled the firmware: XR500-V2.3.2.120 Unfortunately i'm getting the same results. Benchmark spins when you try to start then does nothing. Ping Heatmap does nothing
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 3, 2021 Administrators Posted April 3, 2021 Just to double check, are you accessing the interface using HTTPS or HTTP?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 3, 2021 Administrators Posted April 3, 2021 Okay don't do that, connect via http://routerlogin.net or http://192.168.1.1 and see whether the error disappears
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 3, 2021 Administrators Posted April 3, 2021 Great to hear that! It shouldn't revert unless you have a browser extension that forces HTTPS
