CRarsenxL
Hey everyone ! I was wondering if anyone has input on how to make wired gaming as best as possible. Since the XR1000 is a WiFi based router, I’d like to optimize the wired portion for my ps5 as much as possible. What could I do to make Ethernet king on my xr1000? WiFi doesn’t have to be great. I’ve got gigabit. Whateve WiFi settings could help reduce latency or jitter, please let me know! (not playing on WiFi, just looking to throttle my WiFi so my fiends can’t eat up the bandwidth)
CRarsenxL
/ cause additional latency. I
Newfie
The router will work fine as it is, it’s a 64 bit triple core and you can’t improve the wan connection apart from the QoS control. how many people are using the router?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 19, 2021 Administrators Share Posted January 19, 2021 As above, there are no specific ethernet settings you can adjust. QoS is your best bet here.
CRarsenxL
Well I want to make sure WiFi is limited not causing any disruptions. Would mu-Mimo help?
Newfie
Mu mimo has nothing to do lan, wan or any type cabled connection and will make zero difference. Mu Mimo requires beamforming, at least 2 supported client wireless devices to operate at the same time and at a range of close to medium. There is zero you can do to process the information any quicker apart from moving to another router with more power and even then you will never notice the difference as we are mortals. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 20, 2021 Administrators Share Posted January 20, 2021 Good above advice. If you want to make sure WiFi devices don't impact it then ensure QoS is setup correctly or just disable WiFi entirely, just have your game device connected to the router. Yes but overall jitter from WiFi devices.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 20, 2021 Administrators Share Posted January 20, 2021 If you're playing over ethernet then WiFi jitter won't affect the device and by using QoS effectively WiFi devices won't impact your gaming experience. The XR1000 has the ability to give you great gaming performance and options to really insure you don’t suffer while others use the network. It’s good hardware, it’s based on the RAX50 which you don’t often see complaints about on NG or other well known sites. Honestly I would just game away knowing you’ve done all you can on your side.
