Your isp router will probably be a modem/router combo and therefore you will need that in place to get a connection to the internet as the R2 does not have a built in modem. BIG__DOG Posted January 4, 2021 Share Posted January 4, 2021 You can buy a stand alone modem and connect any router to that no problem, that would be another solution and is 1 I and many others use. It all depends on your connection though. If you are on virgin you need their hub as a modem as it runs on docsis but that can be put into modem only mode which turns it into a stand alone modem.
