ImakeFishNetwork
Hi, as title says. I can't get more than 20 Mbs on my wifi. Anything wired is fine and running full steam. I am on latest firmware. I have tried both channels separate and together. I have turned it off and back on again. I have changed WiFi channels from automatic to different channels. It would be nice to see an analysis of what bands are being used. Ex: 153 is great, good, bad, etc.
Newfie
To monitor the bands constantly would be detrimental to its performance on the Wi-Fi. Best to use a computer to check what’s going on but let’s see if we can find out why you are getting such low throughput. Just to confirm you are getting just 20Mbps? What devices are you using? Where is your router placed ie behind a TV, near electrical equipment? what are your WiFi settings? is this reading in the same room as the router? A photo of router placement if possible would be great.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 3, 2020 Administrators Share Posted December 3, 2020 Hey, welcome to the forum! Good questions above. Have you also experimented with the widths for WiFi? I assume this is connected to 5GHz also?

I believe it doesn't need to be a feature that is constantly on, but it would be nice to have in the OS eventually. literally getting 4.81 Mbs as of tonight for the wifi speed. for the ethernet, i am getting 436 Mbs I have 2 PCs, 1 cell phone, and 3 google smart speakers. 1 PC is never on. Router is a main feature in the living room, on display with no interferences and not near any electrical equipment either. Wifi is on the setting where the 2 channels are acting as one. I receive same bad results with bands separated. My device is a Note 9. Reading is 8 feet away from router. All wifi devices are within 30 feet. I have experimented with the Widths, No Luck. 5GHz has been tested to no good results.
Newfie
Have you performed a factory reset yet?
Netduma Liam
The factory reset is a worthwhile attempt. What current firmware are you running? Recent firmware's have shown promising results in addressing Wi-Fi issues. With older firmware's, we are aware of some issues with the 5ghz band, do you have any test results from connecting your phone to a 2.4ghz band? I realise you've combined the two into one but I'm just wondering if you have any results from a time where they weren't. It may be worth also switching off the 5ghz band and seeing if that changes things.
ImakeFishNetwork
I am on the most current 3.0.179. Factory reset did not achieve any positive results. I have tried both bands separately and together and same results.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 4, 2020 Administrators Share Posted December 4, 2020 Try disabling Syn Flood Protection in WAN Settings and disabling QoS fully in the Congestion Control 3 line option menu and see if that helps at all. ImakeFishNetwork
I decided to try to reinstall the latest firmware first. Every time I tried to rename the wifi, it would disappear and not let me connect. the option to hide the wifi was not on. as of this time, it has been 5 mins of "upgrade in progess" circling
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 4, 2020 Administrators Share Posted December 4, 2020 I'd suggest changing WiFi settings via ethernet, applying them and then rebooting the router and it should bring it all up.
