Should be a nice strong signal at that range. do any other WiFi devices show the same results? Are the drivers up to date on the laptop? where is the router placed, ie behind a TV, cabinet or in an open space high off the floor?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 1, 2020 Administrators Share Posted December 1, 2020 Good advice above. Does this laptop have weak signal using any other router? Have you placed the antennae in the optimal positions? You may need to use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channel in your area and change to that - there may be a lot of WiFi networks in your area that are interfering. DJScorp
I used wifi analyzer that didn't help. the regular wifi works fine , 5G jump up and down between low signal 1 bar to 5 bar at least 10 times a min. My laptop drivers are up to date and its working great with other routers
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 1, 2020 Administrators Share Posted December 1, 2020 Is your old WiFi still present and in close proximity to the XR?
Newfie
I would if possible install an app called WiFi Sweetspots if you have a mobile device like an iPhone or iPad. This is a great tool to check if throughput and if the signal is steady. test at say 6ft min then where the laptop is and see if the line is jumping about as well as the figure. Best to hold it still to simulate your laptop.

DJScorp
For some reason its doing it when I enable AX features such as OFDMAOFDMA in 2.4GHz OFDMA in 2.4GHz
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 1, 2020 Administrators Share Posted December 1, 2020 So if you disable that option it is much better?

DJScorp
Is there a hot fix or any new firmware to fix it ?
Newfie
I would do a factory reset, use the rear pin method at the rear and do not use a saved profile config. The WiFi drivers are Netgears but OFDMA should not be causing issues like that.

Well you've only just told us there is an issue with that so not currently. Disable WiFi completely in Advanced Settings, apply, then reboot, then enable, apply, reboot and see if that helps. Newfie
Did you install WiFi Sweetspots or can you if you have a mobile device. This will help to show if the throughput is not working as intended.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 3, 2020 Administrators Share Posted December 3, 2020 When you've done a factory reset, do you check the speed straight after or do you change settings and then check?
