Back to the random reboots

Recommended Posts

Man this router is somethin else, same as before back to random reboots for no reason at all and it’s at least daily yet again.  Guess I’m stuck putting the old beta firmware back onto it and hoping that we’re blessed enough for netgear to approve the update to maybe fix my router.  Thing I’m confused by is if this beta from months ago seemingly helps to fix this then why dont the more recent updates include whatever fix they apparently found?   Any chance there’s a newer beta that may help things along?   XR500 and most of my support was here and on netgear forum under Soloflyerz if it matters.   This router has made gaming near impossible and at best so frustrating it defeats the purpose of relaxing to play some games after work. Hate to keep coming with negativity, but this thing has driven me totally insane since release, literally the opposite experience from the R1 that I sold like a fool when things were actually working for a few weeks.

Hi - please try the settings suggested above, but also let us know which version you're on. If you could also drop us a link to your post in the Netgear forum that'd be awesome, we'd then be able to figure out where you're up to with this issue.

Updated and logging in, like the new map even tho it’s a small change.   I’m now now crossing my fingers everything stays up and running, think I’ll hold off on blackout for a while in case cause being top 3 with a decent amount of kills and it going down is painful.  It’s so odd cause for all these months since release I’ll not have a reboot for weeks or a month then boom daily or more, get it back working and it’s fine then boom daily again.   No rhyme or reason to it I can find

Nope no such luck, just did it again without much of a load.   Much as I disliked netgear from my last broken out of the box nighthawk I loved my R1 so I figured netduma could kinda keep shatgear on track.  Nope same old netgear it seems and another nighthawk that’s broken right out of the box and still broken almost a year later.  Really would love to see duma os end up on routers from companies that actually care about their customers again some day.  Cheap as I thought the micro tik looked at first glance I never had a single hardware complaint after years of heavy use.

Sorry from what I’m finding most of my support thus far was on netgear forum not here, I thought I’d used both a bit more.   Basically I’ve tried every “fix” that’s been posted and none of them seemed to do much anything aside from delay the inevitable reboots for a bit.  Did have better luck with the beta Frasier sent me, but that’s 6 months old and it’d be nice to stay current if possible on a router I “upgraded” to from the R1 mainly to use duma os and the new features. Guess it’s my fault for believing this would be fixed with updates and not just taking it back as soon as I noticed it.

Probably the best bet is to wait for a new update which hopefully shouldn't be long as XR500 was just released.

However, I do have an odd suggestion that I've not tried before. Put the router in AP mode, you'll lose the features of DumaOS but it might keep the reboots at bay until the update arrives.
