Overwatch Geo-Filter not working

Recommended Posts

I just bought this router mainly for the geo-filter functionality in Overwatch.  For NA servers no matter east or west coast, the server always shows that it is located in California.  I can get an east coast server and the geo-filter will say its located in California.  Can I please get some help with this issue?

Hi there - there are two possibilities here:

  1. There are servers on the East Coast which we are incorrectly showing on the West Coast
  2. You are actually only ever being offered West Coast servers by the game

The easiest way to figure out is to look at the pings of the servers. Are they often different? If yes, could you copy and paste some of the IDs into this thread and we can take a look.

If you could also include the domain name too that would be very helpful.

Yes every server I played on showed up as California.  The west servers I would be at 90ping and the east servers where I would be at 45ping both show up as California

Ok - could you post the IDs and domain names of some of the 45 ping servers when you can please.

I can check some later but on the blizzard website it says:

24.105.30.129 ip servers are US West and

24.105.62.129 ip servers are US East

It looks like there is a mistake with the geographical identification of the servers. Is it fixed already ?

What servers/game are you talking about specifically? We try to do cloud updates weekly if possible.

It looks like there is a mistake with the geographical identification of the servers. Is it fixed already ? I have noticed the same bug when I was playing OverWatch. I am trying to play only on the nearest servers, so I can get the lowest ping in order to destroy everyone in this game. I am trying to become a professional player, so I am always very focused on the game. I have used a sr boosting service for overwatch, because I wanted to play only with the most skilled players, in order to improve myself in this game. However, once I was playing on the server that should be in my country, but I had a very high ping, about 110ms. It was definitely an error.

Hey, welcome to the forum!

If it is normally fine and this appears to be an anomaly then it is either local congestion in which case you may want to fine tune your QoS settings or perhaps a problem with your ISP/your base ping has risen in which case there is nothing we can do about that. If you're playing during peak times then that could also cause it and should return to normal during non peak times.
