Ive had the xr500 for awhile now and it has worked great.  All of the sudden i can not pick a host for COD.  IS there a way to fix for my issue?

Hi Matt, welcome to the forum! There's weird stuff going on with Black Ops 4 at this time, so if that's the CoD you're playing you're likely experiencing the same thing. What error / issue are you having specifically? Are you getting disconnected?

Which browser are you using? Chrome or Firefox are the best. If you are already using them, try a hard refresh on your browser (Ctrl + F5 on Windows usually does it).

If that doesn't work, do you have any specialist firewall or security software on that laptop?

Do other pages load?

So I had to reinstall my os. Now it works. I am new to the router and what it does so i guess i would say i am beginner to using it.  I think that there is more i can do with the router to better my odds for faster pings and what not.  Is there any tips you can give me other the the simple ones that i know about with the geo filter and what not? is there other settings i can switch around to help me out?

I'm glad reinstalling the OS worked - a few people had to do that unfortunately but it should all be good now.

First off I'll just drop this guide here: http://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000077072-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-geo-filter-setup-step-2-

That guide is for the Geo-Filter and how to set it up / use all the features it currently has to offer. It's getting Ping Assist soon which will help, but I won't go into it now :)

As a general rule, if you're struggling to find a game then you should loosen your Geo-Filter settings. Think of the Geo-Filter like a tool to select your server. If all the servers within your radius are full, or if there are no servers within your radius, you won't be able to connect. Finding the balance is key - the game will always try to connect you efficiently, but if you're restricting the game too much it can lead to disconnections.

I'd recommend using the Allow and Deny tool. You can use this to block bad servers (especially if they're inside your radius but you don't like them), and you can add the better ones. You should also use it to add your friends if you play with them.

I'd recommend a <2000km distance. Strict Mode can help in games like CoD too where there's peer-to-peer connections available. (It'll block dedicated servers outside the radius, which is only good when there are loads of connections available). I hope this helps, I could go on but I'll leave it there for now :)

now should i be using a peer or dedicated server?

Just to answer this - it’s really up to the game. But nowadays most games use dedicated servers.

From your perspective though just focus on gettting a connection close to your home (within 1000km-2000km). That should usually then give you a great ping.
