BT Huawei HG612 Modem & XR500

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Does anybody use the BT Huawei  HG612 modem and XR500 router together in the UK?

If so, do you have any issues with ports showing up on the XR500  upnp page?

If you have no issues can you please share your settings ?

Thanks!

Hi Buster - what version of the firmware you’re on? An older version had issues showing UPNP ports that are open. The latest version is fixed:

I am on version 2.3.2.32.

I have had the problem since i bought the router on release. I have a thread about the problem, started this thread to try and get other people's settings for the modem and xr500 incase i have something wrong

Ah ok. I remember this thread. Sorry we can’t give more insight. You have tried enabling modem mode on your modem right?

When i got the hg612 it was locked, meaning you dont have access to any interface. So i bought an unlocked one ( in case i bricked the locked one when trying to unlock it 😉 ) , there isn't a modem mode selection AS SUCH, but this is why im trying to get other people's settings as i have tried disabling upnp and qos on the modem but nothing seems to make any difference, starting to think i have a faulty XR500 tbh.

It’s possible. Have you contacted Netgear’s official support? https://www.netgear.com/support/contact.aspx

I contacted them back in March about the issue but they tried telling me that's how it is supposed to be, since then i have done a 1 on 1 with Fraser and nothing has worked, for a long time i just plugged the R1 back in and gave up but having paid 250 for it i thought id try to get it to work as it should

Perhaps see if they can arrange a replacement for you. Given Fraser has done a 1-1 and it's still not fixed, it must either be hardware or some overall incompatibility with your setup.
