TEE-Y
If I wanted to change my DNS to the open google 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4. Would I have to enter it in the DumaOS and have the windows setting to "Obtain automatically from ISP" or just change it manually in the windows settings and leave dumaos alone? Featured Comment BIG__DOG Posted September 7, 2018 Featured Comment Share Posted September 7, 2018 just change it in the router. Windows will auto use the DNS it finds on the router anyway, not from your isp. You can always change the dns on your pc if you so wish but it is not necessary. xr500user
I would put in the router (Settings, Internet Setup) PC or device will use the router as its DNS, and it's less hop this way. Not that you would notice a visible difference if you put it in PC or device, but every ms matters.. Ping 8.8.8.8 and then ping 192.168.1.1 see the ms difference, it will shave off a 1 ms or 2 on the trip if it just has to ask the local router for a relay response
Administrators Netduma Admin Posted September 7, 2018 Administrators Share Posted September 7, 2018 You may also want to consider using cloudflare’s DNS: 1.1.1.
