Tai N
Hey guys, I have some questions in general to ask for you people who are knowledgeable on this topic. Yesterday I was playing some cod games and I believe I was playing on a dedicated server (unsure) and it had the options like temp ban etc., but not the allow & deny. Under the host depricator the id was 7dd11ae56e1cd9de and I had an amazingly good insane connection. I was wondering how do you know where the dedicated server is and is there a way to get the same host or dedicated server for sure all the time? Usually when changing the profile in the r1 router I select the cod ultimate, but I noticed sometimes your home location is set to the middle of the ocean and sometimes it maybe does not move at all (maybe). I'm not sure if it changed the home location when I selected the profile and the home location didn't move to the middle of the ocean. Is there a difference when you rely on ping assist and your home location is set to the middle of the ocean or where you live in the state? Is there a list or possible way to know where all dedicated servers are like a local or nearest server? Usually when player to player hosting there are lots of people who mod lobbies and cheat in the game which is why I most of the time prefer dedicated servers since there is less cheating from what I noticed + I love server connections. Thanks for taking a look at this topic
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 15, 2018 Administrators Share Posted February 15, 2018 Hi Tai, the dedicated server will be the biggest icon on the Geo-Filter when you're playing the game. The only way to force the same server (or cluster - as there are usually multiple servers in one location) is to set your radius over it with a small enough radius that no others are within it & strict mode on with ping assist at 0. CoD Ultimate puts you in the ocean so it completely utilises Ping Assist. It's great for never missing the opportunity of getting a good game as your radius may block one, also good for ensuring that if any servers are mislocated that you don't miss out on those as well. The only way to check is when you're booting up the game look at the map, the game will often ping all its available servers and they will appear on the map. RL317
The Temp Ban button indicates that the dot you've selected is a dedicated server. I'm not 100% certain on whether this applies to XBL, but on PS4 the CoD servers are located in: Australia Japan South Africa Brazil North America - California, Washington, Texas, Missouri, Illinois, Georgia, Florida, New Jersey and Quebec UK France Spain Belgium Germany Denmark Italy Poland Russia I've occasionally noticed the same problem you've mentioned when choosing the CoD Ultimate profile. Just load it again and it should move your home into the ocean, or you can just manually simulate using CoD Ultimate by placing your home marker wherever there's no land and setting ping assist to 50ms and ticking strict mode. You could also fine tune it by moving the ping assist bar lower if you like. The only problem with this is CoD chooses hosts to populate lobbies while at the prelobby - before transferring to a server - and since CoD tends to pick the crappiest, most unstable and distant hosts possible you may not find one below 35ms, even if you get say 10ms to your nearest server. You could try between 35-50ms with strict mode enabled, or as low as 25ms with strict mode disabled. Since the host likely won't connect to a server too far outside of what you could consider a reasonable distance from their location, you'll likely prefer the latter method. I've noticed that I get kicked from many prelobby games instantly if the game connects me to a host within my ping assist parameters, but then blocks me because the host is forming a lobby on a server outside of those parameters. Strict mode DISabled means you can use a lower ping assist value for the host and then connect to whatever server the game places them on, hopefully resulting in quicker game search times and less booting. Also assuming you're talking about playing CoDs on current gen, there's no such thing as modded lobbies. If you're talking about older games on 360 and PS3, they probably won't have servers up anyway
Tai N
This is very helpful, thanks! You're right about the modded lobbies thing, sometimes I like to play black ops 2 with my cousins on ps3 and there are too many modded lobbies, but never have experienced a modded lobby on ps4 pro for black ops 3 or cod ww2 yet so far.
