MartyMar Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 I have tried 4 modems and havn't had any luck with my duma. The latest was the tp link 7610. It says im playing on a 10-20ms ping. It does not feel like it. The geo filter is enabled to eliminate distance lag. Im almost to the point of giving up. I know the duma is a great router but i dont seem to have any luck. Does anyone have any advice for me.
iAmMoDBoX Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Make sure your line is solid by using pingplotter to ping comcast.com for 24 hours on a wired PC OR use smokeping tool from here: https://www.dslreports.com/smokeping
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 29, 2017 Administrators Posted June 29, 2017 If you're switching modems just because you have a 10-20ms ping and it doesn't feel like it you need to stop. As MoD suggested do some ping plotter tests to actually determine if there is a legitimate issue with your connection. Are you using congestion control as well with all devices connected to the R1?
MartyMar Posted June 30, 2017 Author Posted June 30, 2017 Ok i will do that. I had the netduma hooked directly to the modem and only the ps4 connected to the netduma. No other devices. Ive tried both ways.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 30, 2017 Administrators Posted June 30, 2017 Well it sounds like the Geo-filter is doing it's job, it's getting you the best ping possible. Do apply congestion control anyway and put your console in hyper traffic. If the Geo-filter ping is pretty steady throughout the game then there is likely no issue. Would still suggest doing a PingPlotter on a PC if possible though.
Ptingler81 Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 I know the feeling I have Comcast and I've got the same exact modem however the modem did help me from the previous modem I had. Yesterday I went on a 25 killstreak in one game in the very next game I couldn't buy a kill so I seriously think it's Comcast they just suck.
MartyMar Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 I'm running pingplotter now and have been for almost 24hrs. The whole bottom graph is red. I may need help interpreting this. But i dont think this is a good sign.

But i dont think this is a good sign. It can't be all red or you wouldn't have an internet connection lol If you want, download https://www.teamviewer.comand I can take a look to make sure it's setup right
MartyMar Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 Its red for sure. Ok. I have teamviewer already. But first who are you. Not to be Funny
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 2, 2017 Administrators Posted July 2, 2017 I would definitely take MoD up on his offer to help. He is one of the first people to ever own the router and is quite knowledgeable when it comes to the Duma and networking.
MartyMar Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 I am going to. Im just fairly new to the forum and i didn't know who he was. I figured he knew what he was doing as I've seen him respond to many users
MartyMar Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 It wont let me send mods a message. I was wondering if anyone could let him know that im ready when he is
MartyMar Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 I did some research and was able to see graphs finally. I think my line is horrible. I saw latency anywhere from good all the way up to 1400ms. Ooooo comcast we are about to have a chat. Thanks guys. I really appreciate the support here. I've never seen a support group like this. Awesome
iAmMoDBoX Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 But first who are you. Not to be Funny If I said I Am MoD BoX would that be funny? Lol I PM'd you
