Will Netduma fix lag compensation

I have a 360mb broadband speed, a 9 ms ping on a wired connection yet the built in lag compensation system on mots games punishes me. There is something off, the bullets won't register correctly and the aim assist is wonky. I know what it's like to have a good hit registration and aim assist but I certainly do not have that at the moment.

WILL the netduma fix this problem? Especially if I trottle the bandwidth to a lower speed?

It depends what's causing your lag.

Netduma mitigates local congestion and allows you to filter hosts based on location or ping (or a combination of the two).

The Netduma does NOT directly affect the 'lag compensation' of a game.

'Throttling' is a contentious subject, depending on what you mean.

If you mean throttling your bandwidth to create a buffer, so that you don't suffer latency 'spikes' due to a bottleneck at your router (buffer bloat), then yes it helps a huge amount.

If you mean 'throttling' your connection down to really low levels in an attempt to fool the 'compensation' system, you can lower your bandwidth to whatever level you want.

I don't believe there is an official position from Netduma on this (as everyone seems to have their own unwavering opinion on it) but Netduma does not advocate cheating in any way. I'm not saying that it is cheating but if people mess about with their connection and get banned for 'manipulating connection' then that's between you and Sony/Microsoft. I know MS has a policy on it, I assume Sony does to.

This is NOT a thread for discussing whether or not heavy throttling 'works', if an argument ensues all participants are getting banned.

Moved to 'General', please don't post in 1on1 unless requested to do so by a Mod/Admin. Thanks.

I played around with throttling and at times I do believe it works. When I am mean throttling, I don't mean to the point where I am giving a crappy connection but more just tightening what the server reads as my up and down speeds. I still won't allow my BB go below A+ or A. If I do, it is almost certain I will be at a disadvantage. I don't believe that really low levels to the point the server reads you as a bad connection helps at all cause you will get a ton of BB and your pings will spike so that just won't work.

I found some sweet spots with it but it seems that every game I have to shift my sliders around and constantly use DSLReports to veriify I don't have to adjust my settings. The difference this makes in games is just not worth the effort it takes to constantly tweak it. However, this has only been necessary in COD since their connections and online performance is so bipolar. None of this has been needed for games like Overwatch, BF1 and some others.

Here is the other issue, the lag comp changes throughout the game so it is not going to be a consistent result so I wouldn't bother with it. I have been in games where my hit reg was complete garbage and than mid game it was spot on (without out recycling players) and of course vice versa. Again, I only found this to be true in COD. I almost always ping at 11ms to 17ms.

Where I find duma to be most helpful is to narrow the locations of servers the game will connect me to. I also like seeing exactly what dedi's or even P2P's to help identify if I need to change lobbies and sometimes game modes or sometimes just stop playing for awhile.

Duma won't change lag comp, it can't control that since that is the games algo that tries to match player positions based on good and bad pings. It has however helped reduced the congestion on my line, giving me stronger pings and less data loss. So it will give you an advantage but unfortunately bad net code will still be bad net code and if your talking about COD, it has really really bad net code. Always has, probably always will.
