Mic Setup for in Game Communication - PS4 Pro

I have an X7 Sound Blaster and an open back head set AKG K701's. I love the setup, love the sound, the comfort and ability to modify sound. I am looking for a mic I can add to this but leaning toward the stand along mic vs a mod mic I have to attach to me headset.

This is going to be used solely for game communication, I am not a streamer or content creator. The dilemma I face is I have a an open back head set so the sound is not isolated to the head set. I like this for sound but if I have had a mic setup that might cause other players to hear my headset. I don't want to be one of those players that annoys others with my feedback from my headset, kind of defeats the purpose of trying to compete.

With the PS4 I believe I can just plug in a USB mic. The Blue Yeti for example has multiple pattern selections including a cardoid which if I understand that correctly, it has more directional focused range vs it's omni-directional option. I don't know if it matters since the head phones will be in the general same direction as where I am speaking from. 

 

Does anyone have any ideas on best mic to prevent the sound from my headset or do I need to consider getting a closed back head set. Would rather not but would consider it I suppose if that is my only option.

How loud do you have your headset?

 

I have a Fidelio X1(open), X7, and use the AT2020 USB Mic and do not have any issues with sound leakage.

I have Philips Fidelio X2's (open), Antlion Mod Mic, Astro MixAmp TR Pro.

I've disabled the noise gate completely on the MixAmp so that it's extremely sensitive.

 

Out of a whole lot of games, I've been asked twice if I had my volume up 'extra loud compared to normal'. Once I did, the other time my mic had fallen off onto my shoulder. Most of the time it's fine.

 

Zen plays with a very similar setup to mine and I've heard his gunshots only a few of times out of literally thousands of games.

I hear gunshots through the mic with people using Astro's with the built in boom-mic more often - which I also have.

 

But it really depends on the sensitivity of your mic, the settings on your noise gate, the volume that you're blasting out.

I have the X'2 and mixamp set up and I also use a Monoprice M1060 (bargain HP's that sound sooooo good) which is probably the most open back headphone.

 

They are like mini speakers strapped to me ears and I get no complaints
