YouTube/Twitch/Streaming Slow

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I have the netduma and when I do the speedtest I get 100Mbps download and 10Mbps upload, but whenever I watch youtube or twitch videos, it is always buffering and it is only happening when connected to the NetDuma. Can  anyone help me with this?

You may  try manipulating the congestion control sliders to minimize congestion on your network side.  It could be bufferbloat that is causing the videos to buffer no pun intended.  You can use  www.dslreports.com to determine the best setting for your congestion control.  My settings for instance is 90% download and 80% upload and I get A+ on the test.  Now it will take away a little from your overall bandwidth but the packets will flow nicely. :)

The advice above is great; try reducing your anti-flood sliders a touch to reduce your bufferbloat. I'd also recommend resetting device prioritisation.

My congestion has always been set to 100% DL and 100% UL, which is why I am concerned why is it happening...I have tried to reset the router as well.

I would hazard to guess that the router hasn't been set up for your speeds. Double check:

  • Reactive Algorithm
  • 100% anti-flood
  • Share excess enabled
  • Reset device prioritisation & apply
  • Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc
  • Disable deep packet in misc
  • Enable turbo mode (only if still not getting full speeds)
  • Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds.
  • Do a wired speed test from a PC

If you're getting those speeds through the R1 then something else is happening. I wouldn't always leave 100% anti-flood as local congestion could be hurting you.
