Bad hosts

Hi everyone!

I've had my R1 for a couple of days now. I think I have everything set up properly.

I think my own connection isn't that great, it's fibre optic but I only get 10Mb down and around 1Mb up.

In saying that I can get decent connections at times.

I usually play cod ghosts which probably doesn't have as many players as other games but I haven't seen a great improvement in gameplay since connecting the R1.

When I'm playing and the host isn't much good, I go to click on the biggest circle, put the quality slider to 10% more or less, type in bad host or something then update. The thing is, I'm doing this in nearly every game and I'm not sure it's doing anything.

I'm using chrome on a nexus 10 tablet cause my PC is at the other end of the house.

Should there be a confirmation or a list of the bad hosts somewhere?

Hey, welcome to the forum!

When you do that you're blocking that host so you shouldn't connect to them again.

If you could provide us with the screenshots asked for here that will help us optimise your settings:

If you're on the Google Chrome browser like me (I use a Nexus 5), tap the three dots in the top right corner of the browser, scroll down and click request desktop site. That will bring you to a reply page that'll let you attach screenshots.

Can you run the Internet Diagnostics test please and take a screenshot.

Recommend trying ~1000km, strict on, ping assist 0.

Reset device prio & put console in hyper traffic.

Are ALL devices connected to the R1 by the way?

Thanks, I set the distance a bit further cause I couldn't find any matches locally, could just be the time of day.

Is the internet diagnostics where it says ping diagnostics? And can I do it over wi-fi?

Yes all devices are connected except the Arris thing, that's a TV set box which was freezing when connected to the R1 (I searched for a solution but found a post saying it won't work)

What does putting the console in hyper traffic mean?

Thanks again for the help.

Yes that's right. You can do it over WiFi but keep in mind it will disconnect every device.

Gotcha that should be fine.

It prioritises your gaming packets meaning they're sent/received first.

Keep at it; these guys can help get you there if/ when you may get stuck along the way.

Anyways - so, I wanted to chime in here fwiw to confirm from experience that the R1 does its thing well for CoD Ghosts. Most noticeable, compared to say the past two titles. Ghosts and AW for sure it works like a charm. Good luck.

Ok I just done the ping diagnostics here's the screenshot https://goo.gl/photos/Ty1P5v2D943LCe6u5seems good to me. What did you mean when you said reset device prio?

Go to Congestion Control and click the Reset Distribution button. It'll divide bandwidth evenly between devices registered on the router.

Oh btw something strange happened today, I unplugged the R1 and it reset all the settings. Is that normal?

Looks good on that front. How have you found it since the settings I suggested?

That can happen, make sure you reboot from miscellaneous settings and that won't occur - it will save everything.

Yeh I'm very pleased so far, no great improvement in my kd yet! But even the fact I have open NAT is worth the money
