Windows 10 Xbox app and play anywhere issue

Oops I think I fixed the video sorry.

I was testing at the same time as doing all the video stuff.

I'll also explain the issue.

I use the Xbox app & Play anywhere games on Windows 10.

I've used the Xbox live setting for the geo filter and it normally works just fine.

The other day I activated my geo filter and I couldn't get a match.

So I started tinkering around and saw that my teredo server had moved for the Xbox app & games.

When I activated the geo-filter for my Pc/Xbox app I lost server connectivity.

I could see the teredo server that the Xbox app wanted to connect to.

This server was across the country on the east coast.

As soon as I un-ticked the Pc/Xbox geo-filter I regained server connectivity.

I found out awhile ago if you use https://ipleak.net/ without native IPV6 & all IPV6 options unchecked in the Duma settings that you could see the teredo address.

This normally works by first launching the Xbox app on Pc and then using ipleak.

You should see your Ip address and then next to it your teredo server followed by all DNS's your connected to.

If you click the teredo address it used to show you a map leading to around the server location.

Something changed and the map works for everything except that.

So I copy that address and use http://www.ipfingerprints.com/ to find the teredo server location.

Using this method I found my teredo address as of this time is in Kentucky.

However it previously was in California.

I'm located in Colorado.

*In the video ( Hopefully working now ) the teredo circle is over on the east coast blocking access (to Xbox server connectivity) when I activate the geo-filter.

Hence the issue being that if the teredo server for Windows 10/ Xbox App / Play Anywhere games is outside of the optimized circle you'll loose connectivity.

Making the geo-filter useless.

Up until just a few day's back this wasn't an issue.

I didn't make any changes to cause this.

Just figured I let ya'll know while you're working on DumaOS.

I don't know if there is a way to force a closer teredo server. ( I looked for hours )

If so though it might be a way to fix this issue.

I think that explains it well enough.

Any questions you have please ask.

Thanks for your time :)

BTW:

I planned on doing some testing on this in DumaOS open beta.

If you would like me to test now I would love to help give any feedback.

I'll allow some time for the changes to reach my Duma and report back if everything is ok.

Thanks very much & have a great day!

  • 1 month later...

I'm still having this issue!

Have you had time to put those in yet??

I know y'all are super busy but can you please do that for me It's killing my Xbox Win10 NetDuma experience.

I can't activate the host filter without nat going strict.

Checking in :)

Did you get a chance to get that done yet?

I know y'all are super busy with DumaOS!

Just tested on Xbox today and found a server to whitelist so just need to gather a few more and will do it this week :)

Just done the cloud, it's on bleeding edge so you don't need to do anything. Some of the ID's you provided conflicted with those that are in the dedicated server list so I've left them out for now but most have been whitelisted so let me know how you get on. Please note it may take up to 4 hours to propagate.

I'm still having the same issue with this server.

 ID: 9b17a36eb43a5b60    Distance: 1548mi

It's the server that started this whole mess. Please Help I can't play using the filter.

Just like what I showed in this video. https://youtu.be/ZFTsuKU518U

If I don't turn on the filter nat is fine. As soon as i turn it on it goes strict and blocks server connectivity.

It's driving me nuts.

The big reason for getting the NetDuma is I always route to Mexico or Brazil.

No offense to them but I get massive lag playing them.

I can't adjust because I'm in colorado and the server that Windows 10 chooses is on the east coast.

As you can see in the video.

If you need any further info please ask.

Hey, Duma team I just thought of something important that will be an issue if not looked into.

It stems from the issue I'm currently having.

I'll explain in detail like I'm seeing the issue so it gets fixed with haste :)

1. Open Windows 10 Xbox App

2. Open Duma map ( make sure you can see full map)

3. Have Xbox Live on Duma directed at the PC you plan to use the Xbox App

4. Without enabling the Xbox Service in the Duma keep an eye on the map

5.  Start a Party in the Xbox App on Win10

6. Look over at the map on the Duma and you'll see the servers used for Party Chat and Play Anywhere Games

If your circle isn't close to a server you'll get blocked from the server then Nat will go strict.

This happens even if you start the Party or Game first then activate the Duma map feature.

This is the problem I'm having better described in a nutshell.

If you rewatch the previous video I posted you can see what I mean.

For some reason even though I live in Colorado the Xbox app put's my party chat server on the east coast as shown in the video?!!

As you can tell this will be a growing issue as more people adopt Win10 & Play Anywhere Games.

That's why I'm pressing this on the forum.

Not to annoy y'all :)

I stream most weekdays and I often talk about how the Netduma saved my gaming experience.

I'm a firm advocate for the Duma and seriously can't wait to see what DumaOS is all about.

That being said this issue needs a fix asap.

I have an idea on how to bypass this issue for DumaOS.

With dedicated servers such as the ones causing this issue allow for them to be put on the Allowed list.

You offer the option to "Temp Ban" dedicated servers which makes good sense.

So being able to stick them on the Allowed list and stay would solve this issue.

Hopefully, this explains the problem a bit better.

Again, I know y'all are working really hard on DumaOS and I can't wait to see what the team has come up with.

If you need anything else please ask!

I really want this issue to be solved soon so as more people adopt the Duma and Win10 Play Anywhere this issue doesn't turn them away.

PS: the big list of servers are the ones i found using the party chat method mentioned above

As soon as the geo filter is enabled it boots you from the connected server.

Then awhile after Nat goes strict.

If you're in a party you'll get booted.

If you need anything else please ask!

Great thanks, I'll try to get to this properly on Tuesday. Pretty tied up with DumaOS until then
