XSXS
Okay so another thread got me thinking I should run my own smoke ping on my network. Here are the screen shots of the results and I am wondering if I should be concerned with the results. Thanks!
Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted February 17, 2017 Netduma Staff Share Posted February 17, 2017 How did you run these tests? Were you directly connected to the hub, or directly connected to the Netduma? Did you use congestion control? Were you wired etc?
XSXS
I ran the smoke ping test using my PC, that is hardwired (CAT5E) to the Netduma, then to my modem. Congestion control was set to 100% for download and 90% for upload.
FQs19
Smokeping tests come from DSLReport's servers. They ping your WAN IP over a certain amount of time. So any packet loss and jitter is from the routing of the signal and equipment between DSLReports and Your modem. The R1 will have no affect on this testing. Pingplotter is used to see if there is a problem on your end of the modem and outside. Smokeping is for outside of your modem only.

I'm not saying it is the netduma, I'm just wondering what the quality of my network is. Should i be contacting my isp etc.

Run a Pingplotter test between your PC and your DNS server to show your end of the network (Modem > PC) then forward both to your ISP. XSXS
I wanted to see if a new external ip would fix the packet loss issues but only way I could was to reconnect my Asus to the modem. I've noticed in the past different ips address will have more or less hops. So see if this new external IP is any better. So right now the duma is out of the loop and running another smoke ping. XSXS
For real? I thought the device mac address was hard coded? How often can you change it? Anyway, I'm still seeing packet loss when running smoke ping. I'll post some screen shots in a bit. However titanfall 2 has never played better with the asus connected! I feel like I'm cheating the connection is so good! I didn't expect that!
