Lewis
Hello, i cant seem to get the firestick that over people in my household use to connect to the netduma to reduce its usage as it makes me lag alot when im playing, it connects for around 30 seconds and then says connected with problems and wont let them use the firestick which they wont allow, is there anyway for me to connect the firestick and reduce its usage so i dont lag when i play on the ps4? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 10, 2017 Administrators Share Posted February 10, 2017 Hey, welcome to the forum! Are you using the HDMI extender it came with as that improves WiFi connectivity. Double check you've set up according to this guide: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201452610 Which connection status does it give you from those listed here?: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201822120 Make sure you're using PSK2 as the security mode on the Netduma WiFi. I would also use a WiFi analyser to find the least congested channel in your area and then switch to that on the Netduma's WiFi settings.
Lewis
it comes up with not connected to the internet on the amazon fire stick and its now not letting me open the software and says this site cannot be reached.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 10, 2017 Administrators Share Posted February 10, 2017 Are other devices able to connect to the Netduma WiFi? You're not able to open the Firestick software? Have you definitely used the correct WiFi password? As there should not be any reason why you cannot connect to the internet. Just as a precaution disable turbo mode and switch to the preemptive algorithm on the Netduma.
Lewis
im 100% using the right netduma password but its not connecting me to the netduma software or connecting to any phones/tablets etc. and its not giving me access to the website either, im going to try resetting my computer but i cant see how that would be the issue, the netduma just isnt connecting to anything and even before that the firestick still wouldnt connect to then netduma which was my original problem. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 10, 2017 Administrators Share Posted February 10, 2017 Make sure you're using PSK2 as the security mode on the Netduma WiFi. I would also use a WiFi analyser to find the least congested channel in your area and then switch to that on the Netduma's WiFi settings. First connect via ethernet cable then disable the WiFi on the Netduma, then apply. Enable then apply. Then please try what I said here, un tick or tick the WiFi workaround in miscellaneous settings as well.
Lewis
i have plugged the ethernet cable into my laptop and now the site comes up wifi work arounds was ticked before and all of my wifi products worked fine but the firestick wouldnt connect to it still but when i unticked wifi workaround none of the devices would connect. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 10, 2017 Administrators Share Posted February 10, 2017 Okay so make sure it's wifi workaround is ticked. Have you tried all my other suggestions?
Lewis
i dont know how to do the wifi analyser and i couldnt find where to turn of the turbo mode, was the turbo mode to help with the firestick or to sort out not being able to sign in wireless with the netduma? other than that im pretty sure i have tried the other step you have asked, yes
Lewis
also where it asks for the SSID on the netduma website, is that the ssid for the netduma or my current bt modem/router? also just to double check the password to sign in is the code on the back of the netduma under the barcode without the / and the numbers after it, correct? Lewis
i tried rebooting the netduma in miscellaneous settings and i will try psk2 now in a seconds but everything else connects accept from the firestick but i shall try it and get back to you. Lewis
also how would i check if i had blocked it by accident?
Lewis
it still wont work with it set to psk2 on the netduma it either says not it range or authentication problem and it says secruity- WPA2 PSK on the firestick but it wont connect. BENORMOUS
I'm not home at the moment but when I am I'll take a look at the firestick network settings to see if there's anything that you can try,you will find out if you have blocked it under device manager then you press the edit button,it will show all your devices wires and wireless, next to the all is the option to delete and block if it's been blocked it will say unblock

PharmDawgg
Just spitballing here but does the firestick require a 5ghz network if so the R1 only supports 2.4ghz.
Lewis
i believe it does require 5ghz but if the netduma works on everyone elses firestick then i guess i should on mine as well surely?

No I have a firestick and I use netduma so I can't see it being that, unless you have a newer version than me which does require 5ghz bit still see it as unlikely, suppose Google is ur friend in this situation
Lewis
by the looks of it it should work on 2.4 and people have been moaning its not working on 5ghz so i dont believe that should be the problem.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 11, 2017 Administrators Share Posted February 11, 2017 i dont know how to do the wifi analyser and i couldnt find where to turn of the turbo mode, was the turbo mode to help with the firestick or to sort out not being able to sign in wireless with the netduma? other than that im pretty sure i have tried the other step you have asked, yes Take a look at this guide: http://www.howtogeek.com/197268/how-to-find-the-best-wi-fi-channel-for-your-router-on-any-operating-system/ You can turn off turbo mode in settings > miscellaneous. Both. also where it asks for the SSID on the netduma website, is that the ssid for the netduma or my current bt modem/router? also just to double check the password to sign in is the code on the back of the netduma under the barcode without the / and the numbers after it, correct? SSID you want the Netduma to be. Your original password will have been the serial number. If you have factory reset the router it will be "netdumar1". If you have changed the password then it will be what you changed it to. So 3 possibilities there, which one is it? And what have you been entering? i tried rebooting the netduma in miscellaneous settings and i will try psk2 now in a seconds but everything else connects accept from the firestick but i shall try it and get back to you. also how would i check if i had blocked it by accident? You would see that on the Geo-filter but unlikely you would have added it as a device to the Geo-filter. it still wont work with it set to psk2 on the netduma it either says not it range or authentication problem and it says secruity- WPA2 PSK on the firestick but it wont connect. it doesnt come up at all as blocked or unblocked, its just not on there If you're putting in the correct password - check above make a post in the 1 on 1 section and I'll take a look next week: Post in the 1 on 1 section: http://forum.netduma.com/forum/66-request-1-on-1/and I will have a look.
