Dillinger Posted January 3, 2017 Share Posted January 3, 2017 We need a little more information to go on Daniel, please answer these questions for us - (also, Forum Wiki on internet speed) 1) What speed do you pay for and is this input in your Netduma setup? 2) What times of the day were the tests taken? Roughly the same time for each measurement? Or spread out through a gaming session? 3) Were you using the same device to make the measurements (laptop is assumed, but you know how that goes)? 4) Were you testing hard wired from the Netduma to your laptop or were you testing wireless through the wifi? 5) What were your Congestion Control (sliders from 0-100) numbers set to when you tested? Help us to figure out if it's just your internet speed fluctuating a lot - best way to do that would be direct speed tests from your ISP hub. XSXS Posted January 5, 2017 Share Posted January 5, 2017 How do you have your bandwidth set up in the netduma gui, manually or is it set to auto? I am seeing some funky speed test results when set to auto, basically the speed test will start off with some crazy UL and DL speed and then quickly drop back down to normal speeds. Then when I set my speeds manually in the gui I lose 15-20 meg DL bandwidth. I am still running tests to see what the cause is. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you only got a little higher on your modem it's safe to assume that the Netduma isn't causing the issue; rather it could be the line or another variable. What exactly did the speed test say for your modem? It might be worth trying these settings if you haven't already: - Reactive Algorithm - 100% anti-flood - Share excess enabled - Reset device prioritisation & apply - Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc - Disable deep packet in misc - Enable turbo mode - Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds. Try to find out whether the fluctuations are caused by the time of day, and let us know if those settings make a difference. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I wonder what else it configures?.... Anyway, I did not see those crazy bandwidth spikes like I did before, no matter what settings I had selected so I am not sure what happened the other night. Only issue I am having is with preemptive selected I lose a good 10meg down load but my upload is unaffected no matter what settings are selected. That's good to hear; it sounds like the spike was a one off, which isn't uncommon. Definitely keep an eye on it, but it sounds like you've got the correct settings inputted for your speeds. If you're losing 10meg download with pre-emptive then stick with reactive, that'd be best for the speeds you get anyway. And yes, automatic set-up attempts to configure your settings based on your speeds, but manually inputting settings is a more accurate way to go.
