Slow speeds- tried everything in help threads

Recommended Posts

My netduma is causing major slow down of download speeds lately. I read all of the threads and spent around 5 hours today trying to remedy this. The blockage is definitely in the router as the modem speeds are 65d/7u.

-Factory reset has not helped.

-adjusting congestion control has not helped.

-disabling ipv6 everywhere has not helped.

-no combination of turbo or super turbo has helped.

All settings produce the same results. 40d/7up.

I'm at a loss here. Any help is appreciated. Possibly one of the netduma guys can remote in and look at this. Losing 30mb download speed is enough to make me want to get rid of my duma :(

Currently using:

-Bandwidth set to 70/7

-All sliders 100%

-reset distribution and updated distribution

-all ipv6 off

-turbo on

Internet speed still locked to 40dl through the router. Hardwired test directly through modem shows 70mb down, 7 up.

Using Charter Internet if that makes a difference

The following settings should allow your full speeds through.

Enter your expected bandwidth at the top of the Congestion Control page first...

  • Reactive Algorithm
  • 100% anti-flood
  • Share excess enabled
  • Reset device prioritisation & apply
  • Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc
  • Disable deep packet in misc
  • Enable turbo mode
  • Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds.
  • Do a wired speed test from a PC

That has also been tried. Regardless of what settings I use, I'm am still throttled to 40mb through the router. I've posted my direct modem speeds with a hardwired test. Reset prioritization

I've disabled ipv6 every time and been through a million resets, 100% antiflood, set expected bandwidth.

Speedtest spikes to 80mb and then drops to 40mb and stays there

And you're testing speeds through the Netduma, over ethernet, with a computer (not the console) at 100% anti-flood?

If it was me (and only after double-checking every setting matched the list I provided), if that didn't work then I'd factory reset the Netduma (from miscellaneous settings) and set it up again using the settings I suggested.

If you have those settings then there's no reason for you not to receive the full speeds through the Netduma.

I'd also swap the ethernet cables just in case.

This is through the netduma with a pc an not console speeds.

I did a factory reset 3 times today.

I need help!

After applying your settings, I achieve 39.87d/6.83up wired into the netduma. The modem is providing a 70mb DL speed and 7mb upload.

After connection through the netduma, and applying all setting that have been suggested to me, I am still stuck at 40mb/down, and 7up.

It's a 30mb differential from my modem to the routers output, wired.

I do appreciate the help ColonicBoom

While playing with the anti-flood settings, I am able to achieve my maximum tested speed of 41mb/down at 60%.

Input bandwidth to 70 down 7 up

-allow router to auto configure

-turbo mode on

-all ipv6 off in misc,lan,Wan

-deep packet processing off

-share excess on

-reset distribution

-update distribution

Any settings above 60% have no change. 99% anti-flood still gives me 39-41mb/down.

Below 60%, I am able to throttle my connection as intended.

You're getting those results because you've entered your download speed as 70Mbps. The caps throttle your connection as a percentage of the speeds you entered into congestion control.

I'll be in the chat room for the next 20/30 mins so if you go in there I can TeamViewer and try and see why you're not getting your expected 65Mbps.

He did message me and remoted into my Duma to confirm the proper settings (confirmed), but we got disconnected through all of the network testing and waiting for my ancient laptop to run its tests.

I'm now getting some strange results between a wired connection to the modem which wasn't there before. My ISP is sending a technician again tomorrow to try a new modem. It's very possible that this is now a modem issue since my speeds have changed drastically over the last couple days but we will have to wait and see.

I'll report back if anything significant happens.

When they run their speed tests, see if you can get them to run it through your computer with speedtest.net. Sometimes they'll use their own equipment/software which say everything's ok even when it isn't :)
