p00psm00thie
I've had the netduma for a bit now and have a good idea how it works. Last week I had some issues with my ping spiking from my normal 20ms to 900+ms then back down it was back and forth. I disabled DPI first and that ceased. Now I notice my in game ping to my hosts for me remastered is .2-.5ms. I've reset the device, my chrome is set to wipe browser cache with reloads, I haven't checked IW because I don't play it. Any thoughts?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 24, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 24, 2016 Hey, welcome to the forum & great name! Ensure you have the default theme selected not V2. I'm not sure if I understand the .2 - .5 ms ping part, could you clarify? Are you using congestion control with ALL devices connected to the R1? p00psm00thie
Yes, I run default theme. On ping to host while in game it generally is 20-24ms now it shows .2ms -.5ms. My Internet is pretty good but not that good. With a ping like that I would expect to BE the host. :-) This just started after disabling DPI. I also recently started getting an the error message with PS4 network test, "...device may not support packet fragmentation" This coupled with the ping jumping from 20ms to 900 ms to 20ms back and forth led me to start disabling dpi. With the R1 removed from the network and straight to my modem or old router I do not see this message. I'm stumped. I have no issues now with ping spikes but still getting the fragmentation error with the R1 in place as well as the strange ping numbers. Games seem to be playing well but it scares me that something may be wrong with the hardware/software of the R1. Should I reset to default again ? Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted December 25, 2016 Netduma Staff Share Posted December 25, 2016 Merry Christmas! I believe it's already your Christmas, no? It certainly is Christmas - Merry Christmas to you as well. This is something Fraser will know more about so I'll get him on it; I've never encountered that sort of problem before. It's probably worth factory resetting, though try a reboot from misc first as it's not advisable to factory reset generally. I'm glad to hear you don't get bad lag from this though; that points to the problem being more aesthetic. It'd also be worth knowing what your set-up is. Administrators Netduma Iain Posted December 25, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 25, 2016 Hi, did you make any changes to the MTU section in settings? Make sure you have auto-MTU enabled there is rarely ever a reason to change that. Merry Christmas!
p00psm00thie
Sorry guys Christmas hit here and busy busy. So yea, I don't mess with MTU settings all is default, ps4, R1 etc.
p00psm00thie
Also, I have tried 2 factory resets now and verified that MTU is all default settings, ps4 auto, R1 auto. This has me stumped lol. I mean for sure I would love to have .4ms, who wouldn't? :-) But it's not a true picture and also the router in use may not support packet fragmentation.... warning at the very same time has me worried about my R1 hardware/software. p00psm00thie
I agree it's seems to be an aesthetic issue. I seemingly have zero I'll effects. While the PS4 is reporting the "....packet fragmentation...." issue Ping Plotter has shown no issues over 24hrs to any major services including a few server IPS I frequent. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 27, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 27, 2016 Are you using Google Chrome/Firefox? Any adblock? Stealth mode enabled in misc? If so disable it.
p00psm00thie
Chrome. No adblock. No stealthmode.
p00psm00thie
Don't give it much thought or time. I thought it may be something easy or common that I overlooked on the forums. I can wait until OS2.0 and see what is going on.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 28, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 28, 2016 Just a thought, ensure on your ISP hub that UPnP & port forwarding are disabled. As well as disabling UPnP forwarding in miscellaneous settings.
p00psm00thie
Nothing but bridged rfc1483 dhcp then R1. So no other forwarding or UPNP to deal with. In Misc. The only thing is enabled cookies and turbo mode. No worries.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 30, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 30, 2016 Try disabling turbo mode and see if that works please.
p00psm00thie
Will do.
p00psm00thie
No luck. Disabling turbo mode simply created a situation where my ping would go from .2 -25ms and back and forth at this point the game was almost like I was missing frames but I am not experience cong any packet loss from the rest of the network so I assume the ps4 isn't either. Swapped cables, rechecked power and all connections. Everything is a-ok. Not sure what is going on. Weird. I rebooted and the ping was still fluctuating until I enabled turbo back ON. This smoothed it back out and now it's .2-.4ms strange brew.
p00psm00thie
This morning I am no longer getting the packet fragmentation error but I am getting a error code 103295 message. MWR not available at this time.
p00psm00thie
Psn issue. Geez. Maybe they should raise the ps plus rates once more so then it'll be down every month as a bonus. Asshats.
p00psm00thie
I'm wondering if this packet fragmentation and weird ping issue was a PSN side problem. We will see.
p00psm00thie
So the packet fragmentation issue is gone but the pings are staying the same. Oh well, no negative effects.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 2, 2017 Administrators Share Posted January 2, 2017 The fragmentation issue occurs with a lot of people who don't have dumas so definitely indicates a ps issue. If you want me to have a look just post in the 1 on 1 section.
p00psm00thie
Fraser Thanks for the offer of a 1 on 1 but we don't need that hassle. You are busy and other than the strange numbers displaying I am having no other issues at this time. Game play is smooth and I am consistently on top of the leader boards even when my side gets smoked so no harm no foul. Let's just see what happens after Duma2.0 is released then we may get hard and heavy into looking at this.
