Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 22, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 22, 2016 Hey guys, an update for FIFA 17. It appears to be working absolutely fine with the Geo-filter. When searching it shows blocked players it was trying to put you with and then should match you with someone inside your radius. If it doesn't then just search again and should work. In the case when you cannot match with another player and you have a dedicated server within your radius it will connect you both to that so you can join each other. In this scenario we found the game to be more laggy. So would definitely recommend excluding any dedicated servers from your radius (you should see these when you boot up the game) and just force a connection directly to a player within your radius. You are also able to force connections with players away from your home. For example, I am based in the UK and I forced a game with a player in Saudi Arabia. If you're having any issues let me know in this thread so I can look out for them. ColonicBoom

The issue that I seem to be getting is slow sluggish gameplay, even when your opponent has a low ping 15-30ms I struggle to understand this, when the gameplay is like this it seems like there is a delay of 200ms. You can tell if your game is delayed straight from kick off as the players move much slower. I believe this is one sided lag, Your opponent will move the ball with ease quick and fast. The last couple of weeks I was experiencing great gameplay but this week it seems to be delayed, even when your opponent has a low ping.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 24, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted November 24, 2016 Yes we were. It's possible you had one of the dedicated servers in your radius at the time, even with a low ping we found that to be more laggy. With your radius exclude Ireland and see if you have a better experience.
sytch4u
I never play people in Ireland or Scotland, my radius is always set on England, The only time fifa uses dedicated servers is on the fut championships, so I know for sure I am not connecting to a dedicated server, as I do not play this mode. Fifa H2H & FUT divisions use p2p, so I do not understand why the games have problems with a low ping opponent
giggzou
Week end league works on dedicated server. Is there any test that can be done to see if there is any setting that may improve the experience as it is so frustrating having to play on a server based in Californian, the game is soooooo slow and sluggish... Could you please run some test? During the week qualifying game are also running on one dedicated server (in Californian) so test can be run on that game mode too of FUT

They may be using WiFi over wired etc. In that scenario I would block them so you don't have to play them again. Week end league works on dedicated server. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 27, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted November 27, 2016 We're in the UK as well and were managing to get games. Ensure you're on auto&bleeding edge cloud. Also port forward the required ports for the game.
giggzou
I do find games that is not the issue, the issue is the lag and slow game play( almost feel like there is a 0.5s delay between pressing the button and registering the move). it is not all the time but meanly week end FUT league game. I have played with the settings but cannot see any improvement. Week end leagues are on a dedicated server in California. xbatkax
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 29, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted November 29, 2016 If you're getting a low ping you've done everything on your end. Unless you're experiencing frequent spikes/jitter on your line? It's also possible that it's the other players connection which isn't as good. What are you pinging to the dedicated server? If it's low then it's likely mis located - if so please provide me with the ID.
PsiSnake
Hi Fraser, Hope you're doing well What is the best way to optimize settings for weekend league for Fifa 17? I'm located in Ukraine and most likely usually connected to server in Ireland... I think server in Netherlands also exists, but not sure how often I'm on it... Should I use geo-filter or ping assist would be better? I tried once ping assist and set limit to 70ms, but got 2 disconnects during the game (not sure if it was Netduma or EA servers as usual)...So I have a question - if I set limit 70ms for ping, then match starts and suddenly (my opponent's inet, server lag, my own Inet) pings raises, let's say to 90. Will Netduma drop the connection in that case and I will get disconnect?

What I would do is have my location in Ukraine with the radius large enough to cover Ireland and Netherlands. Strict on & ping assist at 70ms. That way you know that if anything gets blocked it would've been a high ping, leaving you with only games in your radius or under your ping limit. You're also covered in case there is a mis located server as ping assist would pick it up. No you wouldn't get disconnected, once you're connected to them thats it - even if you were to block a person using deny & allow you would have to be disconnected from them for 2 minutes - it's our anti-cheat. Ping assist only handles the initial connection. So if you got disconnected it wouldn't have been due to ping assist. Of course make sure you're utilising congestion control at the same time for the most optimum experience possible. PsiSnake

PsiSnake
Hi Fraser, In general Netduma helps me to determine good servers to play, however I started to get disconnects very often when using Netduma in Fifa 17. It happens both for weekend league & online draft matches. For instance during last WL I got 6 disconnects during 30 matches... Just played draft I had dc in the 3rd match...And there were more cases like that. Even when I disable geo/host filtering, the issue is still happens. The behavior is always same - disconnect occurs in the beginning of the match (like 20-30 seconds from the start). It says "You have lost connection to EA servers"... I don't have this issue when using standard router. In both cases I use cable connection. Any thoughts what in Netduma may cause that?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 7, 2017 Author Administrators Share Posted June 7, 2017 If that happens without the Geo-filter on then it acts like a normal router. Out of interest disable hyper traffic and turbo mode and see if it continues to occur.

Then tried your suggestion & disable turbo mode, played something like 7 matches without issues... I will test more then. Netduma Fraser
