gman013 Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Guys, not sure what happened this morning but there is no wireless on my R1. Was using the VPN facility which I have done on many occasions but it decided to have a hissy fit this time around. The VPN page just wouldn't load after that & the only way to cure it was to do a factory reset. After that the wireless went dead. No matter what I do I can't get it back up. Any assistance would be greatly received.
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 7, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted May 7, 2015 Are you using the 2.4 Ghz option, not the 5Ghz in Wifi settings?
gman013 Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 No, it's set to 2.5Ghz. The wireless led on the R1 is not lighting up! When any wireless device attempts to connect to it I get a "Authentication error".
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted May 7, 2015 Administrators Posted May 7, 2015 The wifi LED never lights up. I'd suggest going to "Settings > Wifi" and changing the password. Then making sure all devices use the same password. Also make sure the password is at least 8 characters long.
gman013 Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Hmmm....that's interesting. I just took p/w security off & I can now connect wirelessly to the R1 again. Atleast I know now it works. I'll try what you suggested Iain.
gman013 Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 OK, reset the password, innitially no joy but after approx 5 mins all is well again. Thanks for the asistance Crossy & Iain.
Zennon Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 If you have any further issues with the wifi , go to misc settings and turn off the wifi work around Gman
gman013 Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Cheers Zennon, I'll bare that in mind if it happens again. By the way, what is the "wi fi work around" for? Excuse my ignorance.
Zennon Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 It was to fix a problem some where having with wifi , in fixing it it broke it for others including me.

Excuse my ignorance. The actual feature was made for people with busy Wifi environments. But as Zennon said, it caused many people to have issues so a way of disabling it was introduced
