phx Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Help..had the netduma router since sat and still getting nowhere. Can someone confirm one thing to start with please..the main telephone line should connect to the netduma not my sky router ? As per instructions. Because i drop all internet as soon as it is plugged in.. It also disconnects my telephone. The only way i can get it to semi work is to have the phone line plugged in to the sky router and everthing else in the netduma.. Next issue..my setup . gaming pc hardwired to routers playing cod aw. Sky router connection 90% of the time i get an open nat..when the duma is wired up i get moderate and cant connect to my friends. .before you ask i have done the dmz/upnp setting to no avail.. Starting to get really peeded of with this really expensive 150 quid plastic box that does nothing.. Any ides..
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 7, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted May 7, 2015 It sounds like your not setting it up correctly which is probably why it isn't working for you. You don't plug the telephone line into the router, you plug the Netduma into the Sky router then everything from the Sky router into the Netduma. When you load up the game on your PC make sure you disable the GeoFilter as this can block NAT servers meaning that it says you have a closed NAT even if you don't.
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted May 7, 2015 Administrators Posted May 7, 2015 Can you confirm you can get Internet when connecting port 1 of the netduma to port 2 of the sky router? Once you've got that working we can assist further
phx Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Hi guys at work so bear with me ! I have tried all ports on netduma and the only way i can get online is to connect the phone line to the sky router if connected to netduma i am offline..done set up as per instructions with the only thing attached to the sky router being the power supply and ethernet cable coming from the netduma and i am offline. .
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted May 7, 2015 Administrators Posted May 7, 2015 You need to 1) Connect phone line to Sky 2) Connect Port 1 on Netduma (no others will work) to port 2 on the Sky router 3) Turn off both of them. 4) Turn on sky 5) Wait 30 seconds 6) Turn on the Netduma & you'll be connected
phx Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Should add if i unplug the phone line and leave everything else attached to netduma as should be it seams to work but then that takes on to new whole load of nat issues

Administrators Netduma Iain Posted May 7, 2015 Administrators Posted May 7, 2015 Surely you can't have Internet if the Internet line isn't connected? Or do you literally mean a phone line, sorry I've never used sky before.
phx Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Hi iain Back home now.yeah the main telecom line is what i was referring to. So just so we are clear here ? You want this connected to the sky router not the netduma router. . Instructions clearly say the opposite..which is what i have been saying all along..it will not work with the telecom line attached to the netduma
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 7, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted May 7, 2015 Do you mean these instructions? But yeah, telephone line into the Sky router. Basically, just everything as it was, but plug everything from the Sky router to the Netduma and connect everything from Wifi to the Netduma The Netduma does not have a modem so it won't work if you plug the cable into the Netduma.
Zennon Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 If you mean Iains instruction's in this thread then they are correct Mastersocket > adsl cable in to your sky router as normal> ethernet cable from the sky router's port 2 into the netduma's port one (it has to be port one) Turn the sky router on wait until it has fully booted then turn on the Netduma, is what i read from these instructions
phx Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 yeah cool it was what i had already done..only way it would work..
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 7, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted May 7, 2015 yeah cool it was what i had already done..only way it would work.. Is that your problem solved or are you still having the NAT issue?
phx Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 no just logged in to steam just now, nat type moderate !!
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 7, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted May 7, 2015 no just logged in to steam just now, nat type moderate !! Could you confirm that the router is definitely in the Sky router's DMZ? Could it also be because of a network firewall on your PC. Also, have you disabled the GeoFilter when loading up Steam? Having it enabled could block a NAT server.
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 7, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted May 7, 2015 get back you... Ok I would think that it is most likely either having the GeoFilter enabled or because the Netduma is not in the DMZ properly. The firewall could also be a reason but I think that is less likely.
phx Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 redone the dmz on sky router, can you advise this please ? i have ticked this option dmz input dmz numberbut do deselect the respond to ping option on internet wan port ? or is this meant to be left on as well ? also options on router mode, dsl only, wanoe only or auto ? need to be an it tech to know this stuff mate

You can disable the option to net reply to ports on your Sky router and enable it on the Netduma so then everything is managed by the Netduma (I don't think it will make a difference though). You can do this in settings >> Miscellaneous and enable stealth mode.
phx Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 sorry you have lost me ! picked dsl mode only on sky router, disable what ? on the netduma misc settings i can not even see a stealth mode ?
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 7, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted May 7, 2015 sorry you have lost me ! picked dsl mode only on sky router, disable what ? on the netduma misc settings i can not even see a stealth mode ? Ah, that might be because you upgrade. Can you make sure you are on the latest version http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=manual_update I meant have DSL on (or whatever you had before, if it is working then changing it will probably break it). Then you said you enabled an option to not reply to pings. That option is also available on the Netduma. I would imagine that it would cause less conflicting if the Netduma managed everything
phx Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 can i ask you something else bud ? i was reading somewhere that you need a static ip address is this correct ?
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 7, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted May 7, 2015 can i ask you something else bud ? i was reading somewhere that you need a static ip address is this correct ? For devices connected to the Netduma, no. Unless you are port forwarding because you have a server or something like that where you need the IP of the device to stay the same. Otherwise DHCP is fine
