migh2o
Can someone explain traceroute and if there's a way to improve them? My traceroute has multiple stops I live in California and my trace goes all the way to the UK on one of the stops then comes back to the US. Is this Normal? Is this part of lag compensation on infinite warfare ?
PharmDawgg
The traceroute is not accurate on the R1. I would not trust it. Not sure why but just search the forums and you will see Fraser mentioning it.
Victor-Yout
but i am wondering why there multiple reports are about this, mine goes from the german dedi to the NY dedi the to the uk dedi and then back to the german. maybe there is hiding more behind it than we think
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 9, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 9, 2016 As above I would not worry about trace route as it can be inaccurate. Focus on your ping, that is the most important thing.
migh2o
Yeah the ping is actually not bad considering all those stops.(assuming traceroute is correct) I wonder if that's the cause of ping spikes again assuming traceroute were correct. Anyways i was just wondering. As long as my pings are low I should be fine. Thanks for the reply!
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 10, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 10, 2016 Yeah that's the thing, if you have a 30 ping but trace is going to a different continent then you know trace is definitely inaccurate as the ping would be much higher if it was true. You're welcome! I'll close this thread now.
