saleen37804
Hi, I've had a problem with my wifi dropping out for months now. I've tried all the recommended settings & serched the forums several different times, & nothing I've tried has fixed it. I'm on v1.03.6, Speeds Up 4.5-mbps Dwn-64mbps, R1 connected to Cisco modem, ISP is Charter Spectrum Internet. The wifi will work for a day sometimes a couple of days than it drops out, but doesn't disconnect from any of the devices. I have to go in & change a setting in the wifi & hit apply than switch it back to get the wifi working again. This is what I've tried without any luck: Wifi Work Around Unchecked & Checked, Tried both Security modes, Changed the SSID name, Tried all channels, I've tried a static IP on all devices, Tried reserving all devices an IP threw DHCP Lease, Tried changing the DHCP Lease time, I've Rebooted the R1 & the Cisco Modem countless times, & I've Factory reset the R1 on 2 different occasions. My PC is connected by Lan & the PC works fine when the wifi cuts out. Non of these have fixed the problem. Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Jeff
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 2, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 2, 2016 Hey, welcome to the forum! Thanks for letting us know the steps you have taken to try and resolve your issue. Are there any wireless devices in close proximity to the router? One user found that having some wireless devices close by can cause dropouts and that moving them away resolved the issue. If not is it close to a microwave as that can also affect wifi. Otherwise do you notice it dropping out at any specific times? During heavy usage of the internet etc?
saleen37804
Hi & thank you for your help. The router is attached to a wall about a foot above my PC with 2 monitors both connected by HDMI, a wireless mouse connected by usb, & a HP wireless printer that's about 3 feet away, but it's connected by a usb cable. It hadn't really crossed my mind that this could be a possible issue, but the wifi on my phone does drop out setting on my desk & it's less than 2 feet from the router. It will be a pain to have to move the router cause I've already drilled a hole in the floor below the router & pulled up the edges of the carpet around the house to run & hide the Lan cables I have running too different game consoles. If my set up sounds like that could really be the only thing causing the wifi issue than I will move everything around to isolate the router, Is their any other possible causes or solutions I can try before I go to that extreme Thanks,

I'm not saying it is this fault but try increasing dhcp lease time in Settings tab> Lan Maybe there's a chance something is going on during the dhcp renew handshake. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 5, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 5, 2016 It sounds like you've followed the WiFi drop out guide so post in the 1 on 1 section and I'll take a look. Hopefully we can resolve it without uprooting your whole setup.
