I'm sure this can be sorted out.

Please follow the following instructions:

  1. Turn both the modem and the Netduma off.
  2. Disconnect Netduma from Modem.
  3. Leave off for 5 minutes.
  4. Switch modem back on- wait 30 seconds.
  5. Connect Netduma and switch Netduma on

Then see if you have a WAN IP in the device manager and have an internet connection.

I do all that, but here's my problem. That should work, it doesn't, when I get the WAN IP in the device manager page, I'm able to ping google.com, but no packets are sent/received. I Have never had a router do this before...

What ISP are you on? Is it an ISP modem? Just to confirm, you are getting a number in the WAN IP page of the Netudma?

Time Warner is the ISP. The modem is a UBEE DWV3200 to be exact. Yes the WAN IP displays on the Netduma page, but I can't send or receive packets, however the DNS will resolve when I ping a webpage. I released the IP from the Netduma, plugged in another router, and it went flawlessly.

Could you try the instructions I posted before and just make sure that they don't fix your problem please. Are you also connecting to port 1 (PoE) of the Netduma?

I'm going to unplug it for a while, and I'll try it when I get back form this meeting. If it works, I'll let you know, and if not I'll do the same. Thanks for the help bud, I'll post back in an hour or two.

Hi Josh,

Being DDoSed should not make a difference to the router. So I'd be intrigued to figure out what's going on. Has the issue been resolved yet?

Nope. I'm still offline. The only thing that has changed is I get a message "Can't connect to external resources."

That just means the twitter fead and other external recourses could not be loaded - this is probably because the R1 has no internet connection.

Is the router you are using with the modem an ISP router? Is it possible that you need to enter a PPoE password to use the modem with a none ISP router?

Also, I know I've mentioned this before but your problem sounds so similar to the problem here.

The fix in that thread also fixed the problem for someone else with the same issue so I'm surprised it hasn't fixed it for you.

So just to confirm you have done all the steps below:

  1. Power down the modem and Netduma.
  2. Disconnect the coax (cable that comes into the house) from the modem and wait 35 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the cable you just unplugged and power up the modem.
  4. Once the modem has a solid ready light, power up the Netduma.
  5. Try to acces the internet after 25 seconds.

If you've done all that, could you see if you can run an internet diagnostic test from the Netduma when you get an IP address in the device manager WAN IP field.

It worked. Crossy, you the man. Honestly, what happened to the router? This thing has had me confused for 2 days...

Thats great! Glad it worked :) I've no idea what happened but at least it's fixed!

I suspect the turning off of the main router letting it fully boot then booting the duma, DHCP fix more than likely do you not think Crossy :)

I thought that but I thought OP has already tried doing this and also left them both off for a couple of hours anyway. So I didn't get why this time it worked but last time it didn't :)

Yes, thank you. If I may, can I please ask for a link on how to manually setup a VPN so this won't happen again? I've browsed, but can't seem to find the topic.

Have you bought a VPN? If you have just pasted the config into the advanced section of the router and enter the username and password (if you have one). Then it will connect you. All you have to do then is press the device(s) you want to apply the VPN to :)

I'm using ibVPN, and I did all that. Still no luck

Negative. the only plain text file it came with, was that one. I've had IPVanish before, thats the one Iain seemed to have, would that be easier to use?

Anything compatible with OpenVPN should work. Let me quickly look at your VPN provider. 1 min :)

Download these files. Open it with notepad or something (you should choose the file with the server name closest to you) and then paste it into the advanced section. Enter your username as password and it should connect :)
