Won't power on/faulty power lead?

Hey all, I sent this email to you a while back and was told to post on here...so here is my post of the email.

Thanks.

Also, tried for ages to sign up with a iCloud email but never got the confirmation email

Tried several times and checked spam folders etc. Does iCloud email not work for some reason?

Hi Netduma crew.

I've had a Netduma since January this year and it's been working fine until the other day. Now it won't power on. I've tested the power cable with a tester and seems that it's that at fault (can't say for sure its not the router as well though) I looked at some posts that said they had the same issue and they were told to send an email to this address.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

All our units are covered by a one year guarantee as per our returns policy here www.netduma.com/terms , all replacements must be verified via tech support on our forum.

As per the terms at the link above please just post the issue you describe below on our forum ( forum.netduma.com) and then when tech support confirm they cannot resolve the issue they will ask you to contact this email with a link to the thread and then we will arrange for a replacement and collection.

Kind Regards

Hey, welcome to the forum!

It's possible that email blocks ours. Have you got another power supply of the same voltage that you can try with the duma to see if it is the duma or power supply at fault?

Hey Fraser

Thanks for the welcome.

I've had a look for one but don't really use anything with the same voltage/plug.

I'll ask around to see if I can find a mate with one if that's what you recommend and get back to you.

Do you have a Volt/Ohm Meter?  Or a buddy who works on cars or electronics or happens to be an electrician?

If you can verify that the plug and wire are transmitting voltage to the connection on the Duma, that will quickly isolate the issue for you.  Simply plug into the wall and check for voltage on the metal insert.  You will need to ground the other lead accordingly to get an accurate read.

Okay let us know! Happy to provide a replacement if it is a duma issue of course.

Hey Fraser.

I've managed to borrow one and tested the router and it turns on fine with the borrowed one.

So I'd say the router is fine and it's only the power cable that's faulty.

Thanks.

That's great news! Let us know if you have any questions regarding optimal settings etc, and especially if problems with the hardware occur. We're always here to help :)

Hey Fraser/Jack

Although the power cable works I'm still left without a power cable as it was only borrowed to test if the router worked.

I have just found an old (very old) Logitech joystick power cable that I could use if you ok it?

The specs are:

Input 200-240V ~ 0.25A 50/60HZ

Output 24V --- 0.75A

I don't mind using this if its ok. If not then I'm going to need a replacement power cable if possible?

Thanks.

sadly .75A is below the .8A threshold...it will work but might lose power randomly
