DumaRocks
So I was playing around with settings and doing some testing. Part of the testing I was doing was connecting directly without the duma. The good part of the duma is that it seems that duma does a great job of creating a good buffer bloat without changing any settings and does wonders when you customize the settings allowing me to get to A+/A+/A+. What I don't understand though is why when I do tests on various sites my download is going from 80-90mbs (without duma) to 40-50mbs (with duma). My upload speeds are also being reduced by a third to half of what it is without the duma. This is based on factory default settings so sliders are at 100% for up and download and this is without the Set Bandwidth changed from it's default 100 / 10. Is there are reason I am losing roughly about 20-40 mbs simply by adding the duma. I also did this test with only my computer attached as wired and not other devices so it wasn't sharing anything. Is this normal for that to happen? BIG__DOG
input your bandwidth settings you should have without the duma into the bandwidth settings on the duma, disable ipv6 in misc, lan & wan, untick deep packet processing as it is only for pc gaming......make sure you are on reactive and enable turbo mode! Ha! As funny is this might not be... I have been doing this wrong the whole time LOL! Here is too celebrating stupid, that is me. I will give those settings a try. Lets see if they will make much of a difference. Appreciate the input. At the end of the day, this whole network, ping, jitter, connection etc is a game in itself. Fun when you discover a break through but frustrating when you can't figure it all out.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 7, 2016 Administrators Share Posted October 7, 2016 Agreed with the above settings though you shouldn't need to enable turbo mode for your speeds.
BIG__DOG
i usually use turbo mode to try and squeeze every drop from my bandwidth Also heres a video on bufferbloat (jitter) you will find useful for when you are gaming. Everything is a learning curve.
DumaRocks
So in an effort to mimic that video and test the most stable CC following @Big__Dog settings. This a series of tests I have done. If you look at the green column that is the difference in ms between the downloading and uploading as well as idle on each setting. My uploading difference is often 10ms to 20ms with some others showing much higher spikes. Downloading is more stable. My question is because my uploading seems so unstable on most settings, should I not expect good results from my current provider. Not sure what a good baseline is. In the video, SIM seem to get his settings to 1ms to 2ms differences on both downloading and uploading. Is that result obtainable or are my results more realistic for most cable connections. I am on Comcast if anyone is wondering.
BIG__DOG
i cannot answer your question as i am on the same network as sim.....my base ping is 10 and i can get down and up to 13/14.......your ping of 8/9 is great and i know you get the odd spile but it is not that often......there are other factors also to consider that if it is BO3 you are trying to play then you are in for a tough time as it is a pretty screwed up game for the majority of people. Also you need to try and get them as equal as possible but it is the upload that matters the most. I am hoping that cod4 remastered and maybe IW next month will be like it used to be......i know that BF games on EA servers are supposed to play like a dream. DumaRocks
I might jinx myself but after taking your settings along with narrowing down my up/down cc my games have been very good tonight. Could be a coincidence but hit detection is on point for many, not all but more game than I am use to. I seem to be pulling more players from around me vs the east coast so I am not sure if that matters as well. I do have to keep my radius in check or get caught up in the east coast garbage.I will keep the settings for awhile and see if there some consistency to them. Here is to hoping it is the settings and not just a lucky night of good games. I appreciate your help and I will be back to report if I see some consistency in this.
