Business Broadband vs Residential Broadband

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I am like many many people on standard residential broadband (vdsl) BT 76/80 infinity 2. I am considering switching over to business broadband primarily to lower my ping and reduce hops. I do qualify as me and my wife work for local government but my question is will it make a difference as i hear business gets traffic priority  to its destination over residential users?

Thanks in advance........BD

The only thing I've heard is generally the difference is you get support priority and a static IP address. So it's really not worth it. You would have to ask them specifically what the differences are as all ISPs are different in what plans they offer.

contention ratio is very low 15 to 1 maybe lower (only 14 other business lines competing for bandwidth) unlike a "home" product that is probably 100+ to 1, and maybe access to a control panel where you can alter parameters

Hey Big Dog,I know over here on Charter they have fiber GIG (up to 10 gb) and for residential they have shitty ass cable that is 65/5 it's not the speeds that are bad but the jitter due to severe node overload is what makes it shit.

If I could get on Spetrum business I would be a happy camper but they won't do it.So for us over here there is a huge difference, hope the same goes for you guys over there.
