Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted April 30, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted April 30, 2015 Can I have the R1 as my primary router......and hook up my fios gateway router from the R1 as a secondary. Yes but you would need a modem in front of it.
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted April 30, 2015 Administrators Share Posted April 30, 2015 As Crossy said you need a modem though. In case you don't know the difference, you need a thing that looks like a router but connects to the wire that comes from the wall. You'll see the wire from the wall cannot connect to the Duma as its a router not a modem.
ugotstretched
The wire that come from my wall is a Ethernet Cat 5 cable.....not the coax that you are referring too.

PharmDawgg
Maybe FIOS doesn't use or require a modem.
