that is so sick, had no ideas we had so many DJs here. AOrtiz is one as well. You guys should post your sets up.

I don't DJ but nearly all my mates and their brother do lol

mate that is so sick Akic, why did you stop?

Well I did it for 15 years, started in the original rave scene, (illegal events in fields lol) all the way through to the Ibiza explosion and can honestly say I had some of the best times of my life doing it but it's not as glamorous as people think and it can be hard work.

Once you get to a certain level there is a hell of a lot of traveling running from gig to gig. Play an early set in London drive up north for another set then back to London for closing sets and after parties.  You can spend more time pounding the roads than you do actually playing.  Also as clubbing became more mainstream there was more and more politics involved, big corporates moved into the scene and a bit of the purity was lost.  I started doing it just for the music but that seemed to be getting lost as years went by and cash was king.

It was great when I was younger but as I got older it started getting in the way of my day job (I was a VT editor at the time) and I was thinking of moving on from the TV industry and starting my own business.  There's not as much money in DJing as people think, maybe if you are an A-Lister but I never quite broke into the A-List, maybe a solid B-lister :P and I was getting to the time of my life where I wanted to get some proper cash in the bank so I hung up my cans in 2005 and started my business which has gone great guns.

I do miss it sometimes but it's a young man's game and as I approached 40 it felt like the time was right.  I had achieved all my goals in DJing, played nearly every venue I wanted to and had a blast doing it.

So you don't mix at home just for love of music no more then?

That's a shame it's really cheap to do it on a pc etc just for fun

Yeah sure I do, I use traktor these days. Wish there were mp3s back in my day beats lugging 30kg of vinyl around :P.

Still love the music just don't play out anymore
