RedBull1973
I'm from the States and looking into this router as a lag solution, hopefully. This is my first post on these forums. So to cut to the chase, I play NHL 15 on PS4 mostly and my daughter plays COD: AW on the XB1. She doesn't seem to have lag issues ever, but I sure do on the NHL game. When I search online i see everybody testing this out for COD games, so I know it will work for that, but will it work seamlessly for all games on all consoles/PC? I feel like I am getting stuck NOT being the host most of the time, and because of that I end up playing somebody over 1000 miles away on their connection, which introduces too much input delay most of the time. It makes for a very frustrating experience. Any insight??

Administrators Netduma Iain Posted April 23, 2015 Administrators Share Posted April 23, 2015 Hi RedBull, For the Geo-Filtering feature we have to do a little work to port a game. We have never tried it on NHL. If anyone here has NHL we would happily try port it for them on their router. Or if you get the router we can try port it for you. In fact, does NHL have matchmaking? As in you search for a game and it finds you an opponent? For example does it work like FIFA? If so its likely that it will work. Email [email protected] and say Iain said he would fully refund you if the "Geo-Filtering" would not work on NHL after we tried to port it for you when you get it. So in legal speak, you would let us know when you get the router and if we can't get Geo-Filtering working for NHL within 2 weeks of you informing us we would happily refund you it. Cheers, Iain

Cheers, Iain I'm not familiar with the matchmaking system used on FIFA. NHL 15 is set up to search for a match by skill level. When it finds one you will see "randomizing home/away" on the screen. It used to be that home team would host, but i don't know if that's the case any more. I usually end up with an opponent within a few skill points of me, but many times with lag. Sometimes it's a larger gap. I know one thing is true. I'd rather play a stronger opponent on a level rink than a weaker one with a lag disadvantage. One other question for you. I currently use the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router. How would you rate the wireless coverage of the R1 in comparison?

I don't have a Nighthawk so can't compare it to that but I know other uses have said how they can get signal from the carpark when the Netduma was in their flat so it is quite a strong signal. Maybe someone who has a nighthawk router could compare them
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted April 23, 2015 Administrators Share Posted April 23, 2015 Hi Redbull, The wifi is definitely very strong but its not our USP. We actually have a lot of customers who have a nighthawk, many of them want to keep the 5ghz wifi so they do the following: Wall modem Netduma Nighthawk wireless devices Wired Devices In terms of NHL if it assigns you a random opponent based on skill then it sounds like a good candidate for the Geo-FIlter. The offer is on the table about testing it out and if Geo-Filtering doesn't work within 2 weeks of you getting the router then we will fully refund the router and the cost of shipping both ways. If you are interested just send an email to [email protected] to let us know its you ordering and we will confirm by email the refund policy I just mentioned. Special_Ed
If that isn't customer service, I dunno what is!
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted April 23, 2015 Administrators Share Posted April 23, 2015 To be honest its not completely benevolent, it would be great to add supported games to our system. So win-win for everyone hopefully
Special_Ed
Mostly referring to the return offer. It's rare that a company would make such an offer for a "working as advertised" product. Kudos! (I hate the word "kudos") lol

RedBull1973
Yes, that is what "customer service" is all about. I am checking my finances as we speak. I will let you know if I am able to get the ball rolling on this.
