TurboBaron
I’m having some trouble using a work issued laptop on my home network since installing the Netduma. Laptop is running XP Pro and connects using BT software to create a VPN connection to my work's network. I can get to my desktop, launch the BT software and successfully make a VPN connection, but then I don’t have any connectivity. So basically my email client can’t send or receive mail, and I can’t sign into instant messaging or browse the internet. Bearing in mind I’ve followed the basic config guides for specifying bandwidth available and also disabling the VPN, any ideas on what could be causing the problem ? The laptop connects fine when I connect it to the VM hub, so I'm wondering if there is some setting in the background of the duma that my work laptop doesn't like. Appreciate this is quite a high level description so let me know what further info I can provide. Cheers
major masingil
Hey TurboB, My work laptop works just fine through the R1 and my company's VPN software. I know it doesn't help your situation out, but I wanted to let you know it can work. I didn't have to anything special to the R1 or my laptop. I'm assuming your VPN worked just fine from home before you started using the R1? Are you using a wifi connection or are you hardwired. The only thing I can think of for you to try is to make sure your laptop's IP is not blocked by accident in the Edit section of the Device Manager tab. I doubt that's the issue because you're connecting to the VPN, but it's something to look at.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 12, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 12, 2016 Hey, I'm not sure about what speeds you have but can you change to preemptive algorithm & turn off turbo mode and see if that resolves it please.
TurboBaron
Hey, I'm not sure about what speeds you have but can you change to preemptive algorithm & turn off turbo mode and see if that resolves it please. Sorted, changed the two settings and everything is working now. So why do you think those two settings would cause a problem ? Just curious to understand, I hate it when I don't understand why things don't work.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 13, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 13, 2016 Great to hear that! I believe it's the way the reactive algorithm treats packets. What are your speeds?
