jsp0511
Hello all, I current have my fios ONT going directly to my netduma then out to everything else. DHCP off on every other router except netduma of course. Everything had been running fine for the last two months with this setup until today. My wifi started acting up, both on the Duma and my netgear, but I had internet when wired and could access the Duma via ip. As of right now, that is not longer true. I cannot access any ip addresses when wired or wireless. The Duma is 192.168.1.1 currently. I did test the 88.1 to see if it reset itself but that did not work and my wifi id is still what I changed it to and it is still broadcasting. The laptop will connect wired or wireless but both will state "no internet". My iPhone will just attempt to connect but never show the wifi icon in the upper left. It seems like I have no internet but fios is not showing any outages in my area (10701 zip in NY) and I obviously cannot call them for support with my current setup. I've reset the ONT. I've reset the router numerous times. I had everything running fine again until I disabled IPv6 but I'm not sure if that was just a coincidence. Ipconfig shows: Wireless lan: Link local IPv6 address fe80:8bb:64cb and so on... Autoconfig IPv4 169.254.xx.xx which I'm assuming is my fios ip Subnet mask 255.255.0.0 Ethernet adapter states : media disconnect, but it's not Any thoughts? This is rather frustrating. I'm hoping I wake up to it all working fine but I'm doubtful.
ColonicBoom
Have you connected straight to your modem/isp hub (after the obligatory reboot and wait...) just to check if your internet is actually still up? My isp doesn't show outages straight away either, I always seem to know before they do. If you log into your isp hub will it tell you if it has WAN connectivity? I'm not quite sure I understand your question. I replaced the fios Actiontec router with the netduma once I reboot the netduma, I can't even log into it using the ip. As far as if the Internet is truly down, I don't know. I was going to put the Actiontec back as the main router after work today to test.

This is correct. I cannot log into anything with any ip. I had set static ips for most devices. Cannot log into those devices now, netduma included. When you say you've 'reset' them, do you mean reboot or factory reset? edit - actually that was a stupid question, if you'd factory reset then your wireless wouldn't be broadcasting the same network. re-edit - unless you left the SSID as the default? Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted June 1, 2016 Netduma Staff Share Posted June 1, 2016 Can you try unplugging everything from the Netduma so it's isolated, then connect a computer to port 2 via Ethernet and see if you can access the dashboard using the usual IP or http://r1. If that doesn't work can you post a screen shot of what ipconfig says. Also do the same on Wifi and see if you can access the dashboard.
ColonicBoom
Reboot. Id like to avoid a factory reset if possible. Yeh, I don't blame you, was just checking. Crossy is about in the forum I think, I expect he's more technical than me (everyone else is) and may have an idea. I don't have the option to use IPv6 so I'm not sure what might have happened when you disabled it - maybe nothing, maybe everything.

This was actually my next course of action before placing the Actiontec first. I'm annoyed at myself for not trying this last night. I'll be back at the router at about 5pm EST. I'll post my findings around then. Thank you.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 1, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 1, 2016 Hey, if after following Crossys advice that doesn't work please unplug the router completely for 24hrs, go back to using your actiontec in that time then after 24hrs connect the duma and try accessing the interface again. Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted June 1, 2016 Netduma Staff Share Posted June 1, 2016 Are you connecting with an automatic or static IP? Try connecting with an automatic IP. If that doesn't work run ipconfig -release and ipconfig -renew in the command prompt.

I had the netduma set the ip addresses statically but I'm assuming the netduma is doing nothing at this point. I'll try your release suggestion. jsp0511
I released so now that ip from the photo is gone. When I renew it says it cannot when the media is disconnected...which it is not. ok I just got super frustrated and I factory reset the duma. It works now which is even more frustrating because I don't know what happened or why and I can't really have this happen on the regular. My wife works from home at times and if this is a regular occurrence, it simply won't work. Do you have any thoughts on what might have happened? Would it be ok having the actiontec give out dhcp leases and disable dhcp on the duma while still leaving the duma as the first router the verizon ONT sees? thoughts? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 2, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 2, 2016 It's hard to say, my immediate thought is it may be a memory issue. Keep us updated and if it happens again we can look closer. I would advise leaving the DHCP enabled on the duma.
