The_Waffler
Note: This is extremely important to mention, DOCSIS 3.1 is going to be released by the end of this year (2016). So unless you are having a serious issue with latency I do not recommend upgrading your modem at this time. Unless you are crazy, like me. What will happen if we are still using a DOCSIS 3.0 modem after the upgrade?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 17, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 17, 2016 Interesting, I'll check out the potential 16x4 issue!
abc123
What will happen if we are still using a DOCSIS 3.0 modem after the upgrade? Nothing just depends on the max speed provided by your ISP. DOCSIS 3.0 can do something like 500Mb/s but DOCSIS 3.1 can do 2Gb/s i believe (or more)
Dialatech
My network has become very complex aswell but I guess that's what I get for being a Geek and a Cisco Engineer. -->Modem-->NetDuma Router-->24 Port Gigabit Procurve Switch----------->| Then we have 20 Ports in different rooms which are all being used for different items. Then we have 3 Internal AC Access points and 1 External AC Access point. I used to have a Cisco Switch but that decided to pack in so I got a good deal on a HP Procurve switch. My Next project is to put some network ports outside in weather boxes.
