Before I took my xbox one out of my living room into my new setup last year I regularly would download a movie off torrents straight to my android phone and just stream it directly to my xbox one over the wifi,it would open up the blu ray player on my one and bingo flawless HD movies,I have a new TV but not new enough to be able to stream a movie to it so I'm looking for something that I can basically plug into my HDMI slot on my TV that my phone will detect so can stream films again, does anyone know of such device?any suggestion I'd appreciate

I use an apple tv (not actually a tv, just a badly named device for receiving), it streams from the phone/laptop very well.

How do you do this on the Xbox One by the way?

edit: sorry, didn't notice the 'Android' part when I first read your post.

Well on my galaxy s7 edge i can watch a video in my gallery and press the More button and choose smart view which searches nearby devices that can receive the stream over wifi and xbox one is one of them,as soon as you choose xbox one it auto opens up bluray player and streams great

Plex streamed to Chromecast. Or tablets. Or smartphones. Or computers. Or consoles. Or Smart TVs. Or the latest Apple TV.

I have Plex setup on my iMac with all content stored on a NAS. I then either fire up the Plex app on my iPhone and connect to Chromecasts throughout the house, or use Beamer on my iMac to broadcast to either the Chromecasts or Apple TVs.

Of the two, Chromecasts are easier to use than Apple TVs, unless you have an Apple TV4, which has a Plex client app.

You can also stream from a PC / Mac Chrome browser direct to a Chromecast, or Chromecast-enabled tablet, smartphone or TV.
Similarly, a Mac can stream to Apple TV, or iPhone, or iPad over Airplay.

Plex also functions as a DLNA server, so it'll work on PS3, PS4, 360 and XB1. The DLNA interface isn't as slick as the Plex apps on PS4 and XB1, which you can also use to connect to your Plex server.

Plex. Yeah. It be teh shit. There's a million and one ways to setup your streaming media, but Plex should be front and centre.

problem with Plex is you have to unpack torrents. Kodi has me so spoiled as you can play straight from the pack. i tried plex for a hot minute but didnt want to pay the subscription to have my movies that i had to now unpack just to stream to two roku TVs i have. so i ended up just keeping my movies on my media center and running there.

android has a vcast now if you have chromecast device on the tv. that might be what you want. i havent tried it yet though as i dont have chromecast dongles.
