im not a tech savy guy but as far as im concerned i feel as though cable is the reason why i feel im getting bs most of the time...my cc is at 30/30 my internet speeds are 50/25 i use prem.. my link is modem-netduma-netgear ac3200 , in miscellaneous the first 3 boxes are ticked and the 5-6th are ticked.. my bufferbloat is usually a+ a and quality is a+ but im still getting the sponging action in all gears of war games..

ive changed my location.. i even tried blocking a dedicated server and it said strict mode had to be ticked even though it was so i guess im lost now..and games it is saying im getting 20-30ms ping but i feel as though people with fiber/dsl must have a lower ping or no latency im not sure

Have you tried the Reactive algorithm by any chance?  Have you run www.pingplotter.com on your cable line to see what you are fighting?

I happen to be pretty savvy when it comes to Cable TV, I worked in the field for about 15 years.  My home system was rock solid, but when I started testing the street and "other" connections of the Cable Plant, I quickly found that there were problems I could not correct without extensive assistance from Compost (which had a higher chance of me becoming King of the World than getting).

I have since switched to a VDSL line that is dedicated for just my gaming and Duma forum work.  VDSL is a fiber fed, smaller pocket DSL line that CAN offer a much cleaner round trip for your all important game packets.

May be worth checking to see if the problem isn't local to you, but in the backbone.

YMMV,

Only options I have here is ool or Verizon but I'm thinking about switching to Verizon 50/50 and then I'll mess with the cc or does anyone think it's not worth it and I'll still run into trouble with eating bullets etc?..

Like I said I average 20ms ping but still get bullshitted lol

It's not the ping that is killing you, pun only semi intended.  That ping number is going to be basically a point in time and space compared to the game host.  Unless it's the same box, you aren't going to get the same results.  Speed tests like to choose the closest, big gun server (like something that belongs to Google). Your game host may be tens of miles away from that box, and the in game meter on BO3 is not to be trusted in my opinion because I have seen it giving me numbers that just can't be possible (pinging Texas server with a lower in game ping than my local - according to in game meter)

The first thing to do, BEFORE YOU SPEND ANY MONEY, is to download PingPlotter and check the quality of the line that is feeding you now.  That's free and will take only a small bit of your time.

Now if the line is in shit shape, and we have seen plenty of those situations recently, a move may be a fine option.

But if the line quality is really good, you may just not be enjoying the game itself.  There is some bullshit in this release, of that I am sure (Brass Knuckles' animation is one that comes immediately to mind).

I'd check your line before you give yourself any extra hassle or expense.

You want no packet loss and I found that you want to have a steady ping for gaming. Like the more flatline the better. I have Comcast cable and I usually just ping plot there part of the route. They cannot help what happens after, as far as I know. Once I annoyed Comcast enough they fixed my jittery line and I now have a very steady ping.

You aren't looking for ping numbers in ms.  You are looking for the overall quality of the read over a given time limit.  The Guru here (nods to Z) would have you run a couple of 2-4 hourly cycles.  1 in peak time and 1 in off time.  Then you can compare and see what your TRUE ping route looks like.

Post your results for us to look at.

We need one starting at around 830 pm peak time, remember weekends will probably be worse for jitter as more people are using your ISP's bandwidth.
