daz Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Wondering if there is any benefit to ditching the bt hh5 and just using the Duma as primary instead of secondary?
bagsta69 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I do that with BT FTTC, got rid of the HH and just use the R1 connected straight to the open reach box. Not sure if the HH5 is a modem/router combo though.
Net-1 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 There is no good reason to have any other router before a Netduma.
Net-1 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 What the Hell???..... HH5 does not have modem mode!!!! That is shite why they do that????............ You need to get rid of that crap ASAP..... A quick internet look you can get an openreach modem or buy another VDSL modems and flash the right firmware. but I m afraid I am on Virgin Cable you will have to find a BT guy with the same issue.
TEH BUTCHER Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Use R1 as primary so you can take advantage of all features. Unless you need absurd wireless transfer rates or something you'll be golden. I've streamed Netflix wirelessly while playing CoD at the same time with no issues at all. For 99.9% of households R1 primary is good to go.
bagsta69 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 and how would i go about doing it? ethernet out of openreach modem into port 1 of Netduma R1. In settings on R1 interface go Settings WAN then PPPoE enabled Username [email protected] Password BT

bagsta69 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 yes, its the box that the line goes into from outside that you then connect to the hh, or in this case the R1 Looks something like this
daz Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 all i have https://community.bt.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/29497i901F9461E03770BA/image-size/medium?v=mpbl-1&px=-1
bagsta69 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 OK, assuming you have broadband I will assume that the hh5 is a modem router so you will have to find out how to put it into modem mode only. I do not have a hh5 so cannot help with that I am sorry. I am sure a quick google will help you find the information you need:) After a quick search it appears you cannot use the hh5 as a modem only mode. Sorry. Ill have a think and try to find a solution if nobody else comes up with anything.
bagsta69 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Yes it is but you cannot set it up as a modem only apparently. Which in my opinion is dumb.
sub91 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I was on about getting one of these instead of using my hub. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Virgin-Media-Ambit-256-Modem-Model-No-E08C013-00-/111904677543?hash=item1a0e09dea7:g:VAEAAOSwL7VWl9Sc
bagsta69 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Sorry I misread that, benormous is correct the Duma is just a router, mother hh5 is both
