corrosiveguy
Just switched to 1 gbps service from my ISP.. Just seen they had the option to purchase a static IP. Is this worth it? I figure it would make connections even better, your are not going through NAT etc. You have a direct path to the internet. How do you configure one in the Netduma? Or do you hard code it into your game system of choice... Please technical responses no guessing. Thanks in advance
Zennon
A Static IP works the same as a Dynamic IP apart from it does not change. So no it will not make a difference to gaming. I have deleted your double post.

I have deleted your double post. Even though this a public static IP.. I would think there would be benefit from having a public routed IP versus a private non public routed IP.. No NAT translation needed

No NAT translation needed Is you're talking about public static/dynamic IPs then they have to be assigned by your ISP - but I doubt this would have any impact on gaming. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 17, 2016 Administrators Share Posted February 17, 2016 Most people prefer to have a dynamic IP as well, especially if you ever get DDoSed so they can't repeatedly DDoS your IP that doesn't change
