ChaoticNature
EDIT: I'm an idiot and never checked off my PC after doing this. Though the log file errors still concern me, I am now behind a VPN on my PC. Is there anything I should still be concerned about with those errors or am I just being a dingus? Hey guys, I just got the netduma because I've been getting DDoSed and needed a switch to both change my IP and to get some proper protection. I got PIA and have been trying to get it working for a few hours now, tried resetting the box a few times, factory renew, testing multiple bits of code, but still having no luck in getting anywhere. It says it is connected, but my log file shows several issues and it definitely is not putting me behind a VPN. I could paste it here but I'm not sure if anything in the file is something that shouldn't be posted on a public forum. If it helps the beginning reads: Wed Jan 27 14:21:20 2016 WARNING: file '/tmp/vpncred' is group or others accessible Wed Jan 27 14:21:20 2016 NOTE: the current --script-security setting may allow this configuration to call user-defined scripts Wed Jan 27 14:21:20 2016 UDPv4 link local: [undef] There's a few more lines but it seems like they are IP related. The config I used last is: client dev tun proto udp remote us-newyorkcity.privateinternetaccess.com 1194 resolv-retry infinite nobind persist-key persist-tun tls-client remote-cert-tls server auth-user-pass comp-lzo verb 1 reneg-sec 0 <ca> -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- MIID2jCCA0OgAwIBAgIJAOtqMkR2JSXrMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBBQUAMIGlMQswCQYD VQQGEwJVUzELMAkGA1UECBMCT0gxETAPBgNVBAcTCENvbHVtYnVzMSAwHgYDVQQK ExdQcml2YXRlIEludGVybmV0IEFjY2VzczEjMCEGA1UEAxMaUHJpdmF0ZSBJbnRl cm5ldCBBY2Nlc3MgQ0ExLzAtBgkqhkiG9w0BCQEWIHNlY3VyZUBwcml2YXRlaW50 ZXJuZXRhY2Nlc3MuY29tMB4XDTEwMDgyMTE4MjU1NFoXDTIwMDgxODE4MjU1NFow gaUxCzAJBgNVBAYTAlVTMQswCQYDVQQIEwJPSDERMA8GA1UEBxMIQ29sdW1idXMx IDAeBgNVBAoTF1ByaXZhdGUgSW50ZXJuZXQgQWNjZXNzMSMwIQYDVQQDExpQcml2 YXRlIEludGVybmV0IEFjY2VzcyBDQTEvMC0GCSqGSIb3DQEJARYgc2VjdXJlQHBy aXZhdGVpbnRlcm5ldGFjY2Vzcy5jb20wgZ8wDQYJKoZIhvcNAQEBBQADgY0AMIGJ AoGBAOlVlkHcxfN5HAswpryG7AN9CvcvVzcXvSEo91qAl/IE8H0knKZkIAhe/z3m hz0t91dBHh5yfqwrXlGiyilplVB9tfZohvcikGF3G6FFC9j40GKP0/d22JfR2vJt 4/5JKRBlQc9wllswHZGmPVidQbU0YgoZl00bAySvkX/u1005AgMBAAGjggEOMIIB CjAdBgNVHQ4EFgQUl8qwY2t+GN0pa/wfq+YODsxgVQkwgdoGA1UdIwSB0jCBz4AU l8qwY2t+GN0pa/wfq+YODsxgVQmhgaukgagwgaUxCzAJBgNVBAYTAlVTMQswCQYD VQQIEwJPSDERMA8GA1UEBxMIQ29sdW1idXMxIDAeBgNVBAoTF1ByaXZhdGUgSW50 ZXJuZXQgQWNjZXNzMSMwIQYDVQQDExpQcml2YXRlIEludGVybmV0IEFjY2VzcyBD QTEvMC0GCSqGSIb3DQEJARYgc2VjdXJlQHByaXZhdGVpbnRlcm5ldGFjY2Vzcy5j b22CCQDrajJEdiUl6zAMBgNVHRMEBTADAQH/MA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBBQUAA4GBAByH atXgZzjFO6qctQWwV31P4qLelZzYndoZ7olY8ANPxl7jlP3YmbE1RzSnWtID9Gge fsKHi1jAS9tNP2E+DCZiWcM/5Y7/XKS/6KvrPQT90nM5klK9LfNvS+kFabMmMBe2 llQlzAzFiIfabACTQn84QLeLOActKhK8hFJy2Gy6 -----END CERTIFICATE----- </ca> Would anyone by chance have any idea what is wrong? ChaoticNature
Thank you kindly - I kept seeing you pop up in all the old threads I read with similar problems so this is a pleasant surprise. Much appreciated Asen.
ChaoticNature
EDIT: For some reason it seems like disabling the geo-filter once it let it work just fine, I have no idea why but I won't complain! Actually I've encountered a new issue: It seems that I cannot connect to Skype anymore ever since installing netduma. Whether I have the VPN enabled or not. I'm not too sure what the problem is, as I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program as well. I simply get "Sorry, we couldn't connect to Skype." with a sad face at the launch window. Did I break something?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 27, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 27, 2016 Glad to see your original issue is solved. In terms of the log, I wouldn't worry about it if you can confirm when enabling the VPN that your IP does change. For the Skype issue, another person encountering the same issue said that this fixed the issue: go to internet explorer, tools, advanced settings and then click reset

I actually, somehow I know, surprisingly have hit another snag on my journey to understand this router. I've been trying to figure out how to properly enable VPN exceptions for games on my computer that are not source game or the like (I play a ton and it's a challenge to figure even one out). Honestly I really only need the VPN to be enabled for Skype, as that's my main need for protection. Is that at all possible? (I'm trying not to make even more posts for this to avoid flooding the board, my apologies)

Is that at all possible? (I'm trying not to make even more posts for this to avoid flooding the board, my apologies) It isn't possible to only select one service to go through the VPN, at the moment you can only exclude things from the VPN. This is something that could possibly be added in the future

J8Y50N
Under VPN tab, where do I get user name password from? How to setup up/connect to this?
PharmDawgg
You have to subscribe to a the HideMyAss VPN service. If you go with another service it is a little more difficult. Then you have to set it up under the advanced setting tab under the VPN page.

PharmDawgg
Ok. If you got the username and password it should work. Only other thing I can think of is make sure it's not case-sensitive and there is no delay from the time you subscribe and when your subscription is active. Also there are other active members who have this service as well and they may have some suggestions.
